Hilarious Basel going and beating City. That's the top top team for you guys, the team who have struggled against us, Wigan, Wolves, Bristol, Burnley and now Basel.

They aren't as good as people make out and been saying it for a while now, they have a great team no doubt, but they get caught out when teams actually try instead of been worried about their attack.

I can't remember who it was but somebody said on here they will dominate the Premier league for years to come, no they won't! next year will be a different story.

Are they out of ucl salah? No way! That's hilarious. You're right pundits go ott about things. Sure city are class this year but 6/ 7 months of football is not enough time to know if they're truly great. One season doesn't prove much more than they were the best this year. I mean Leicester aren't great are they. Getting beat by shaktar doneskt, Liverpool, Wigan and Basel is not the record of a truly great team. As soon as things start going a little Pete tong at City, when they have a little slump in form the media will chew pep up and spit him out. He will move on, some players will follow and, like they do, things will change in the prem.

This game meant literally nothing for them. Hardly a reflection of how good they are.

Even funnier that the gutter press’s other golden favourites Spurs are found out by both The Old Lad and the old gentlemen of Turin 🤭
Fair to say England’s great World Cup hope was well and truly neutralised by Chiellini and his walking stick 😆
Oh dear oh dear, imagine if Jose’s bus gets 4 flat tyres in the next two games as well, add Chelsea’s mission impossible and it’s not beyond the realms of possibility we could be the last English team standing come the semi-finals of the UCL.
The sly sports pundits and gutter press will choke on their Sunday supplement croissants 🥐 ☕️ LoL 🤡.

TjRed, it's a champions league game mate of course it meant something to them and they lost it, whichever way you want to look at it when you consider all the hype about them they surely should've won that game at home? especially after the first leg away, they didn't, Basel basically had nothing to lose so went for it and won.

They can't defend and get caught out every single time a team actually tries against them. Basel tried, they got the result, sure it wasn't enough to go ahead and knock City out but that was never going to happen.

See how they do against the big teams in CL and you watch them come unstuck. People act at times like they will go ahead and breeze the Champions league, watch them against the likes of Juventus, Barcelona, RM, or even us. I'd be happy to have them in the quarter finals, we did them once and can/ will do again. We beat them without VVD in the team who has proved to be a huge difference in regards to defending.

Please note I'm not saying they are terrible or anything like that, we all know they are a threat to any team they play, their attack and midfield are simply outstanding but they're quite far away from the finished article.

Basel have been playing well and city played s second string team so wouldn't think to much into that result. Anyway I only worry abou LFC and there results so don't give a damn who we draw in quarters as I think over two games we are capable of taking out any team and winning the ucl this season come on you mighty reds make this yr number 6 YNWA.

Oh, I thought City were out by the first post, they lost the 2nd leg 2 1 and won the first game 4 0 something like that. Still very much in it then.

Of course the game mattered, just as porto mattered to us. Although we were all saying "we should play solanke and Woodburn, try gomez at cb etc" it was a good opportunity for city to give some squad players a European run out. Anyone who thinks they didn't care whether they won or not is not thinking straight. These are professional sportsmen, I can Guarantee they would have wanted nothing more than to thrash Basel.
