Anyone no what sort of player Dani Ceballos is please? Is ge a deep lying player or a CM that carrys the ball forward from deep ir a play maker? i've looked on youtube but this is never a good guide as only shows bits. Trying to work out if he is more of a Can replacement or a Coutinho type replacement.

He is more of a carrier, but he very good at pass and move football. I've not really seen anything special regarding his long range passing, but he is very creative and gets the odd goal. He certainly won't replace Coutinho in the front 3 though. He also likes to get stuck in and closes people down fast.

Decent player. The more I've watched him, the more he strikes me as a Lallana replacement in the midfield 3. He can play the sitting role but he's not very good at it. He's better with more freedom. Still young and improving though.

I think he'd be a good alternative to Demirbay if we can't get him. I'd definitely prefer Demirbay though because he is closer to the finished article than Ceballos is. Maybe they're not linked and Klopp is planning a major overhaul? I only expect Keita + 1 though in midfield.

Ceballos isn’t the finished article and he’s certainly a rough cut diamond. But he’s very good on the ball and has a very good range of passing. He’s got a bit of a chip on his shoulder by all accounts, but I don’t see that as an issue, nothing wrong with a bit of confidence in your own ability.

Keita plus 1 won't be enough MK. I think he will overhaul the whole midfield. PC left and Can is leaving for that will need 2 replacements. I am sure 1 or 2 others will leave so will need replacing. We had enough midfielders at the start of the season so we don't need to add just replace the outgoings.

Midfield is our weakest area but I think we have an opportunity to massively improve in this area and that will make us be able to properly challenge for the title next season. I can see a brand new midfield 3 starting next season.

Ceballos is average at his very best! He is a carbon copy of Lallana except he likes to play from the deep. Takes far too much time and far too many touches before passing the ball. One of those young players who wants to get noticed on YouTube! We should stay clear away from
Him. Give Woodburn a chance in Lallana’s place.

MK - Keita + 1 is what I expect as well, but if Lallana or Milner think that they will struggle for gametime and move on, we need to be prepared to bring in extra. Also a more general point about moving for quality - if Klopp rates them over our options and they are available, why not go for them whether planned or not?

Mark, i agree we need a Coutinho and Can replacement, but Coutinho will most likely be replaced by a player for competition in the front 3 (who could possibly play in midfield too) . Someone like Lemar, Draxler or Brandt. Keita is basically the replacement for Can. You can't add a £60m midfielder without clearing a space in the squad.

So the + 1 (be that Ceballos, Demirbay Jorginho etc) is more likely to replace someone we're not expecting to leave. Someone like Lallana or Milner. I think Klopp would prefer to keep Milner, and Lallana has been open to moving back down South for a while now, apparently.

That would leave Keita, Henderson, Ox, Milner, Gini and seemingly Jorginho to fill 3 positions which seems like plenty of depth to me. Hopefully Klopp gets his long term target to replace Coutinho (Lemar) as well, and we can have another quality option in midfield.

I just can't see Klopp replacing nearly every midfielder at the club (even Keita, Jorginho and Lemar is a completely new midfield 3). He hasn't made more than 5 first team signings in a single season since he got here. First season was Mane, Gini, Klavan, Matip and Karius. Second season was Solanke, Salah, Ox, Virgil and Robertson. Third season we already have Keita and still need at least 1 keeper, at least one defender, and a replacement for Coutinho. So I can't see him signing more than Keita +1 for midfield. He's just said yesterday that Gomez is going to move centrally long term so with that in mind I'm picturing the summer going something along the lines of; Navas, Right back, Keita, Jorginho, Lemar. No idea who the right back would be though.

i don't think Ceballos is half as bad as you're making out Harry. If he was Madrid wouldn't have signed him after fending off serious interest from Barcelona. What worries me is simply Real Madrid will probably look to now bid for Salah using Keylor Navas and Dani Ceballos as part of the deal as bait since Klopp wants them, and even though i'm pretty sure we will not entertain letting him leave this summer, it will probably unsettle him and he will be given promises about leaving to Madrid f. eks the season after. I'm just sick of this stepping stone rubbish to be honest. Wish there was a way to sign players not interested in the spanish gimmick clubs. Or paying them the going rate, i don't know.

That is what I meant MK

Keita
playmaker
Lemar type

Totally new first choice midfield.

and I've just realised I completely agree with MK's last post!

I don't think we will see too many coming in to play centre-mid next season. Even with Can leaving and potentially Milner that still leaves us with Henderson, Lallana, AOC, Wijnaldum, Keita and probably one more?

IF we also sign someone like Lemar who can play centrally as well as one of our forward positions i don't see the need to start the season with more than 6 outright options.

Personally I think it will be Keita and one more (hopefully Ndidi, hey ed001!) but we shall see.

Spot on, MK. Klopp will not be overhauling the midfield and if you by 3 mids at top money then you have to play them all, really and Klopp won't do that, IMO. To me, we need a keeper (backup if as Migs and Ward will leave if Klopp goes with Karius), Keita +1 (Demirbay, Jorgihno or Ceballos), a Cou replacement (a wide man, IMO) and that may just about do it.

Keita plus 1 plus a PC replacement is exactly what I said. A totally new first choice midfield 3.

You are just agreeing but trying to say that you are not. Lemar type player will play mostly in midfield when everyone is fit. Anyway time will tell.

I can't see Gini or Milner being here next season.

Nostradmus,

He is very average mate! I have seen him a few times and only few times coz he doesn’t play enough. If you want another “ Young potential “ with bags of quality then yea, Give it a shot! Are we short of Young potential at the club?

He is a carbon copy of Lallana! Too many twits and turn without any purpose. He love to dribble past players when there is an option to pass!

If you are looking for a player than could actually neck Hendo in the holding role then please buy someone who is a finished product!

14.) 27 Feb 2018
27 Feb 2018 12:53:52
If he can prove his fitness then Hendo will play regularly next season along with Keita. The question is who is the third player. I believe the Couts replacement will be a midfielder not a forward and I'm hoping for a Silva/ Ericson type player.

I wouldn't expect another big name to come in beyond this unless it looks like Hendo won't be able to play much.

Tell that to klopp man, i'm trying to be positive since its who klopp wants! Its called supporting the club, if i could have a say in who Liverpool sign trust me i would stay clear of Real Madrid players.

Coutinho replacement could be a Winger if Klopp buys Jorginho who is a playmaker by himself! So it could be Kieta + Jorginho + Wide attacker ( Winger, Inside forward )
