So this years big scouting trip went quite well didn't it, 3 points, a clean sheet and a really good chance to see who we will be buying in the summer.

So who from the saints would you buy this summer? (If you had to, and we probably will)

Ward prowse has to be worth a shout. His set piece delivery is fantastic every time. Something we lack in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - but he spends more time doing his hair than playing football. Overrated. It is all very well being able to deliver but you need to offer something from open play as well, which he doesn't.}

Bertrand looked shot confidence wise. I've never seen him play that bad. Salah destroyed him, and his delivery was atrocious on all but one occassion, considering how much space we gave him.

Lemina looks like a hell of a player though. Ward-Prowse is a decent player too.

If we had to have one, it'd be Lemina. I'd much rather Doucoure, Obiang or Ndidi though.

{Ed001's Note - why Ward-Prowse? I don't see what he offers other than set pieces. In open play he is pretty much a passenger. Reminds me of Glenn Johnson the way he is constantly fiddling with his hair. He is not focused on the game.}

Isn't JWP only 21 though Ed001? I think he is a talented player. I never said I'd have him though, just that he is a decent player. Decent isn't the level we need, i just thought I'd point out he was one of their better players.

Lemina stands out as the clear best player in their team though. Romeu and JWP both benefit from his assured style. Lemons makes their midfield look good.

{Ed001's Note - no idea how old he is but I just don't see him as anywhere near good enough or having the potential to be so. It is because they have players of his level playing regularly that Saints are where they are. He is simply not good enough to be any more than squad filler in a bottom half team. Romeu can be good but he has lost form recently.}

I wouldn't touch any of the current Saints players bar Bertrand. Their squad quality has gone down alarmingly by selling all their good players over the years. I know a lot of you guys would advocate signing Lemina, but I am not convinced. He would be a squad player with us at best. We should be looking to upgrade our midfield, not simply add to the numbers.

Not sure yesterday was the best day to assess their players but I think Bertrand would be the only one worth considering - I thought TAA did well to limit his attacking ambition to be honest. I have liked the look of Cedric but he did not play well yesterday. Aside from that I wouldn't take anyone else - none of their midfield, including Lemina, is really a step up on our current incumbents - if we are going to improve then we need to be aiming for better quality in my opinion.

I would not touch ANY of the Saints players as NONE of them are any good right now. We have maxed out on their good players as VVD was the last one they had. Bertrand? Nope. He is a very poor defender and decent going forward. Moreno and Robbo are better defensively . Cedric? Good athlete, poor footballer. Not better than Gomez nor TAA, IMO. Ward Prowse? Ed has described him to a t. Lemina? Decent player BUT not a patch on a fit Hendo or an on form Can. Romeu? We don't play with a DM like him so nonstarter. I think I just about covered them.

Mario Lemina looks quality and a decent player. Bertrand is a great shout. I would actually try for seseengon once more. Think he is what we need on the left flank.

I thought Bertrand but I was impressed by lemina too. Bertrand won't be at Southampton next year. I like Robertson, I think he is pretty good. Le suex, who has commentated on the last couple of games, really likes him too.
