Which position do you guys think is the most important in football?
My judgement is tacking midfielder / defensive mid / makalele role.
I can give you numerous examples in last 20 years
Makalele
Viera
Keane
Busquets/ mascha
Kante

Goalkeepers because without them players would be scoring simple goals from all over the pitch.

Striker/ main goal scorer. You won't win very many games if your team struggles to score. I say main goal scorer because salah isn't exactly a striker.

It is a cliche but I honestly think that football is a team game and that how players perform, interact, complement one another is more important than any individual player of position. The very best teams are cohesive as a unit with great players but, more importantly, excellent play as a collective. I honestly don't think any position is more important than any other, they are all vitally important and, when performed well in aid the team, and when performed poorly in leave weaknesses to be exploited. It's like a game of chess, the Queen is the most powerful and glamorous piece but, without the pawns, still limited and, more importantly, a piece that cannot win the game of chess all by itself.

I'd go for Captain. Doesn't matter where he plays. If your captain is world world class. You've cracked it.

LFC8, captain is not a position on the pitch.
