So it was mentioned further down that we need a creator in midfield and i fully agree.

Henderson is going to play the central role when fit, and we have Ox and Keita to give us direct options in midfield. Lallana will most likely stay and he can be that creative influence but he is just so rarely fit. He also does too much himself instead of letting the ball do the work.

There are some very good experienced options around who could be available at the right price. David Silva, Toni Kroos, Jaoa Moutinho, Gonzalo Castro, Cesc Fabregas, Mesut Ozil, Ivan Rakitic etc.

I personally still think we will push for Lemar in the summer, but if not, there are certainly some good options potentially available. If I'm honest, I'd love Silva, Kroos or Ozil! They all have that killer pass in the final third, in their locker. Not that Lemar doesn't, he's just a bit raw.

Good luck with Ozil lol . Kroos would be instead of Henderson, better passing but less energy/ pressing. No idea about Silva.

I keep saying whoever comes in needs to have an amazing delivery on set pieces. When we’re forced to play possession games the easiest way to score of through set pieces. That’s how half the teams score gaunt is with one corner!

Agree with you here MK. We are just missing that type of player.

Ozil has just signed a new contract so I think you can cross that one off.

I would like us to go and have a scout and find someone not too well known to be honest. I think Keita will bring an energy to the midfield going forward that milner/ wij don't so that will be a good upgrade.

If Henderson fitness is an issue I think he may need to have his game be sitting back infront of our cbs and keeping the ball moving with keita infront of him and this passer of the ball.

Kovacic would be a really good shout. He is still young and is physically the kind of player that would fit a Klopp team, we should avoid Rakitic at all costs though, his legs are going and would be too much of a risk.

I think Lallana and Woodburn in the creative CAM role would do the job if given the chance. Either that or drop Firmino into the CF role and play Ings or Solanke as a ST. With Henderson and Keita as the holding midfielders.

Sure it would be nice to add Kroos or somebody like that but I would take every penny we have available for next season and get a goalkeeper and another CB.

Moreno, Lovren, Matip, Mignolet, and Clyne are dragging the quality of the defence down and although some of them show flashes of competence now and then, none of them are consistent enough to challenge at the top.

The same could be said for Wijnaldum and Milner, then there is Can, Sturridge, markovic, Grujic, Origi, Flanagan, and Ward who all seem to be waiting for their chance to leave the club whilst collecting a wage every week.

Noshbag, thing is that Lallana lacks the final ball. Woodburn has got a better passing range, but it is a big responsibility to lump on to him, although he should be getting more minutes if he isn't going on loan.

Swish, Kroos doesn't play the same role Henderson does anymore. He did for a short time after Alonso left, but he got over run defensively. That's why Rafa put Casemeiro into the team and put Kroos in a more advanced role off the side of Casemeiro, with Modric off the other side. We have Hendo to sit, Keita/ Chambo to play one side and offer directness from midfield, but we need a proper creative influence on the other side. Kroos is exactly that and is reportedly available to raise funds.

WelshRed, I've heard that Man City are open to selling David Silva if they got a good price. No idea why, or how true it is. He is 32 though so maybe Pep wants a younger player. I'd take Silva for a few years though. He's never been injury prone and never relied on pace so will go to 35 easily.

I personally think Meyer is the type of midfielder that would be a great option. I think between Klopp and Buvac they would be able to mould him into a great versatile CM, Number 6 to swap with Henderson or push forward to play a CAM role. Sadly from what is being reported in Germany and now here, he is going to Arsenal today. Obviously it is purely guess work for me to suggest the type of player he'd become under Klopp, but at 22 and with his range of positions, I think he could grow with keita and form a good partnership. Considering Can will most probably leave and Milner over the hill by next season.

I don't a playmaker as such is what we need but rather a midfielder who can set the pace. Can and Gini can follow the pace of a game, like v City. They can't make it happen themselves, like v Swans. Hendo is better in this aspect or rather not as bad as EC and GW. Coutinho had this in his locker and we need someone to fill this role.
If we get to play a quick game we'll do fine without a new midfielder, but there won't be that many opportunities to do that after Swansea showed the world how to make us look uneasy and sluggish using quite simple means to bring the pace down.
Huddersfield tried but failed due to that rocket from Can. Won't be surprised to see Kane and Eriksen screen passes 15 meters from their own box come sunday.

This is Liverpool FC mate. We are one of the biggest pulls in world football and we finally have a manager and the finances to match the pull of the clubs name.

Anything is possible. Kroos complimented Klopp recently. He was more hinting at Klopp going to Madrid, but maybe he'd be interested in working under Klopp for Liverpool? I'm just putting forward some ambitious options. We need a player who can pick out that killer pass around the box though, and i really hope we aim high.

Kroos would be an amazing signing as he can control the game and is one of the best in the world, but realistically it is a signing that will never happen, the same goes for Veratti, whereas Kovacic is realistic and possesses a brilliant range of passing, his shooting is top notch and he does work hard in midfield. David Silva would be a great Gary Mac type signing Woodburn could learn a lot from having him around.

Andy Thorne, i think we need a player who can do both. To be fair, most midfield playmakers can play the killer passes and control the tempo. I don't think we need an attacking playmaker like Isco, Hamsik or Hazard. Firmino drops in and does that role when Salah and Mane break beyond him. We need a pass master in the midfield though so we can get it to our front 3 in dangerous scenario's.

Johncrow, Keita is one player though.

City have De Bruyne and Silva. Madrid have Kroos and Modric. Barcelona have Rakitic and Iniesta. PSG have Verratti and Matuidi. Bayern have Thiago and Tolisso.

All the best sides in the world who play 4-3-3 have two midfielders who can play a killer pass. Usually one who is direct (Matuidi, Modric, Rakitic, Tolisso etc) and one who makes the ball do the work (Kroos, Veratti, Iniesta, Thiago etc) .

In Keita and Chamberlain we have two good young players who can offer that direct creativity, but we don't have anyone who can make it look effortless. Coutinho will go and take that mantle off of Iniesta for Barcelona and we all know that is how Klopp planned to use Coutinho this season before he threw a strop and refused to help out defensively

That for me is what we lack. The genius behind the attacking play. It's not even strictly a Coutinho replacement, because Coutinho was only ever a left winger here regardless of how Barcelona plan to use him and how Klopp planned to. I haven't seen enough of Kovacic if I'm honest, but he does seem to get a lot of support on these pages.

Either way, everything points towards us going after Lemar in the summer Arsenal have somehow tricked Ozil into signing a new deal so we theoretically have a free run at Lemar now!

So not a keeper or another centre half left back right back or holding midfielder? And people criticise klopp for not sorting the defence out. As I predicted weeks ago, we will sign nobody so the conversation is pointless regarding what players to target and what positions. The money for couthiho was earmarked for keita and van dijk, so when salah is sold that will fund next summers transfers and even then probably not all of his transfer fee will be spent. Its just moving money around, a slight of hand trick and some of you either can't see it or don't want to.
