Thought the energy levels of the team were much better against Huddersfield, more urgency though still, at moments, lacking in quality. Never the less 3-0 away from home will take that all day long - very important to bounce back and the team have, hopefully Karius really retains the number 1 spot now, it is clear he is miles better than Mignolet and that the defenders actually have some confidence in him, he must be first pick until the end of the season at the very least.

BT Sports commentary were also saying our second goal was poor goalkeeping - personally thought it was just a very clever finish from Firmino.

Big worry for me is Mane - is it me or has he lost some pace (or perhaps its confidence)? Seems an absolute shadow of the player that he was last season - is it possible for the sort of injury he sustained last season to impact a players pace and acceleration in such a way? I really hope not as I have a lot of time for the guy, just seems to be struggling in most games he plays at the minute.

If Migs or karius had let that goal in at the near post the pundits would 100% have called it a goal keeping error. I agree with you that Firmino’s finish was cute but at least the pundits are being consistent.

Re Mane he nearly scored two headers tonight by being a yard faster. If they’d have gone in no one would be saying anything. It’s a game of margins. He’ll be back firing soon.

Don't worry too much about Mane.

Mane has been recorded sprinting faster than any other LFC player this season. Currently the 15th fastest recorded player in the league. I do think that he's either lacking a little in confidence or his 1 minute substitute appearance against Chelsea has changed his attitude slightly.

This site would go ballistic if we conceded that second goal. When we score we only ever consider what our attack did, when we concede we only consider what our defence did. How good or bad the opposition was rarely comes into it.

Fair point that stoneage if it was our goalkeeper they'd be getting roasted so perhaps consistent (though not necessarily fair) . I hope you are both right about Mane, I really like the guy as a player and as a person off the pitch, seems very grounded, so hope he rediscovers his quality as I really want him to do well.

Why is everyone giving mane a hard time. I thought last night he showed attacking intent and made good runs. Both headers were not gimmes but at least he is getting in a position to score. It seems everyone needs a scapegoat and the “supporters” have collectively chosen mane. Give it a rest.

If you get beaten by that angle from anything that goes between you and the post, it's poor goalkeeping. It was also a great finish, a tiny hole to get it through and enough power not to let the keeper rectify their positioning error but still poor keeping - just line Sane's goal against us.

Mane is having a tough time at the moment but with his injuries, he was bound to suffer in form sometime. He's still doing enough to justify selection though, you can tell from some flashes of his old self and his goals early january that his ability it bubbling under the surface and will explode back into life any daynow.

Stoneage, no more use of the word 'cute' in reference to anything a out football please. It is the most caring word that has ever been introduced into commentary. Makes me wanna rip my TV off the wall. Nothing in football is cute. Well unless we're taking about that ex Chelsea physio. Funnily enough it was introduced about then haha. Probabky talking about her of mic then it slipped out after a goal and boom they all use it now.

Hjke not sure whether you’re praisingthe finish or not. The thing everyone should notice is it was precisely done. He gave that keeper the eyes the entire time for a cut back. And he probably has 2cm either side where it would have been stopped. No power, just an amazing, thought out finish.
