Hello all,

First time poster, long time reader.

The reason I have decided to post is that in my opinion current matters at the club are getting really ridiculous.

I have just read that Coutinho was allowed back to Melwood to say his goodbyes to the players. By who and why? His transfer request in the summer truly indicated that he is not happy being a vital part of the squad and tired to force his "dream move" to Barcelona making headlines all around the world and disrupting the team with his attitude, faking injuries. It's not a question of if the club was right to keep hold of him until January, he has no right or reason being there anymore fooling around taking pictures causing disturbance again. What message does it send to the teammates? Whoever authorized this should be sacked with immediate effect.

What message does it send to the current players and future signings that Emre Can is wearing the armband being not committed to club captaining our prestigious club? For how longer he is unable to make up his mind about signing a contract or leaving? He should have been given an ultimatum that he either signs by December 31 or he will be put on the market for sale and sent home. I don't even see reason allowing him training with the reserves.

These are just two current affairs that are totally unacceptable in my opinion. It is free pass for Salah to force his move out in the summer, for Firmino to not sign a new contract and for Mane to leave just because no decent players left around him. A new transition period. I don't even want to get into that.

I love Klopp, I wouldn't want to have him sacked even if we miss out on top 4 this season but the way our club is being run is unacceptable in my opinion.

Thanks Eds for the great work, I truly enjoy reading the articles, opinions and banter daily.

{Ed001's Note - it makes sure that Coutinho will remember his time fondly with us and so, when asked by someone else who is considering a move to join, he would say 'go for it' rather than telling them to avoid them as they are bitter and spiteful. That is a good thing to do. There is a reason we get players to choose us over City etc right now, and that is because they know they will enjoy being a part of the club. If we started being dickish when someone goes, then we stop people remembering their time as a good one, they will just remember being treated badly at the end.

I do agree on Can, should never be anywhere near the armband. However, by doing that it has shown him that Klopp will treat him with respect and dignity and again make sure he looks back on his time with us in the right way.}

Thats a great response ed, and perhaps a reminder of the values the club held many a generation ago.

{Ed001's Note - we used to have a reputation for being the greatest place to play football. The club treated players with respect, when they moved on they were found good moves that suited them and we never looked to charge ridiculous prices to ensure the buying club could give them a decent reward for their services with us. Whenever they returned to face us again, the club and the fans gave them a favourable welcome.

How times have changed!}

I think Ed is spot on, yeah the way he left wasn't great, but there is no point being dickish about it.

And how you haven't changed with the times. You are not suggesting we should of took slot lower price for continho are you so he could make his dream move?

When your at the top ed there's a lot more stuff you can do. Have you ever had a lot of money in your pocket? Say 100/ 200 quid for some reason but you only actually need a fiver for lunch. How easy is it to give someone a tenner, give a tip to a waiter, buy someone there lunch. Be generous i mean.

Now you only have 10 pound in your pocket. Your not very generous are you.

When your winning the league, selling players and still have the likes of daglish, ruzhy etc up top. You can do a lot more.

I partly agree with why klopp gives them the captaincy but to me it just seems desperate, a late attempt to keep someone AND then it looks even worse when they still rubbish on us and leave. Like even with the captaincy we still couldn't keep them.

Or maybe, just maybe, Coutinho is a pretty likeable guy and the whole media circus making him out to be a super villain was actually a load of nonsense? You think selling him in January came 'out-of-the-blue'? Come one. I'm pretty sure there's no-one at the club that dislikes the guy, just a bunch of angry fans do, LOL.

That's not what he's suggesting at all Put. We charged a world class fee for a world class player. What he's suggesting is that when we have someone who we're not willing to even have on the bench of train with the senior players, we shouldn't be holding out for what would be a club record fee for most teams we should let them get on with their career.

Great response, Ed. Players in general do not hold grudges against fellow players esp. those they have had a great relationship with. Klopp as well, bears no grudges and understands the life of a footballer even tho, he may not agree, as Ralph Honigstien always says. Remember the story of he and Gotze crying when he decided to join Bayern? Klopp is a top bloke and if he saw Cou today, they would both hug it out. As Ed said, it is some of the spoiled, self entitled fans who spit their bile out like petulant children that are ruining this club every passing day.

Thanks for the response Ed01, I agree with your reasoning although I don't think the club treated Coutinho wrongly at any time for him to have anything bad to say about us. As I have mentioned it's not a question of if he should have been sold in August rather than 5 months later. It's the way the club is handling this issue by being nice and sensitive about Coutinho's personal request. We were beaten by the 2 bottom placed teams in the league and I think the last thing needed was him being around the training ground yesterday after the whole saga. The players should be focused on getting back to winning matches. Being nice have never won any club any trophies and it certainly won't be the case with us. The club's dealing with Coutinho/ Can issue is setting a bad example in my opinion and it could have negative consequences for years to come.

{Ed001's Note - surely having him there giving them a bit of stick for losing without him should be a spur to drive them on?}

If the players need a support of an ex-teammate who was not committed for most part of the past 5-6 months, reported fit for Brazil, yet not being able to play for us on several occasions there is even a bigger problem than I previously thought. Surely PC is Vasco da Gama and Barcelona supporter first, perhaps LFC is his third team, I'm not sure. He could have organized a personal farewell barbecue party in Jurgen's backyard for all I care, he has no reason being associated with Liverpool anymore in my opinion and his returning being leaked to the media is embarrassing to the club.

I'm pretty sure many people in all walks of life organise a leaving do when they get a better job, nothing to see here move on.
