I look at Mignolet and how the club GK coaches have (not) addressed any of his glaring weaknesses. That’s what leads me to the conclusion we need a GK who is already good enough and doesn’t have obvious weaknesses. Karius has always been a flapper, if you watched him in Germany. The difference is Germany is a less physical and less arial challenge compared to the EPL. Keepers are protected more in other leagues so they get away with being poor on crosses.
Potential in keepers is fine and I agree Karius has a lot, but you need someone capable of bringing that potential out. I don’t believe we have that at our club, whereas Man Utd did with DDG.

I think a change of GK coaching is long overdue!

As you say, Ron, the “glaring weaknesses” of Karius and certainly Mignolet have, IMO, not been improved, if they’ve even been addressed?

If a coach’s job is to improve and develop players, why is Mignolet still such a poor premier league keeper after 4 years of working with Achterberg?

Yes, I fully accept and agree that Mignolet is not the standard we require if we want to challenge for the top 4 and above consistently, but seeing as he’s still making the same errors after 4 years, the question of can the GK coaching be improved should surely be asked?
