Some interesting stats on the season so far.

Goals in the PL, CL and assists

Jesus 8 + 2 = 10 goals total + 2 assists
Aguero 13 + 3 = 16 total + 5 assists
Firmino 10 + 6 = 16 total + 8 assists
Lukaku 10 + 4 = 14 total + 4 assists
Morata 10 + 1 = 11 total + 4 assists
Kane 20 + 6 = 26 total + 3 assists
Lacazette 8 in PL + 3 assists

I think hopefully the comments on here about Firmino not being a proper striker and needing a true no.9 are slowly being put to bed! Hi goal last night was pure class.

He actually has 7 CL goals, because he scored in qualifying against Hoffenheim!

No-one doubts his quality, I think some, including myself, doubt his natural goal scoring ability. Having a good season this year though and brings the other into play so well I think any concerns have been dropped, again including by myself.

Morata is having a poor season.

{Ed001's Note - that's unfair, he was playing really well initially, he is having a dip in form now though. To be fair to the lad, he has never played anything like as many minutes in so short a time before in his career. Like most players suddenly given a long run of games he is struggling. Oh and he is still scoring goals with his head, it is just his feet that seem to have forgotten what to do.}

Firmino is still not a striker. Everything he did yesterday was that of one of the world's best number 10s. If he moved there permanent behind a striker he will make Barcelona shoot themselves for taking the wrong Brazilian.

Hes one of the best players in the world but still and alright striker.

Maybe why the club are pushing for that French international.

{Ed001's Note - you mean like when he ran onto a throughball and outmuscled Stones before a delightful goal was that of a number 10? Number 10s play the throughballs, not run onto them!}

I am sick and tired of having to defend The Bobbie dazzler on these boards. Truly sick. Winston and Westwood, let it go. Firmino is not a natural goalscorer. So what? Who gives two F's? The guy is doing all the things that natural forwards can't and won't do at the same time, he's scoring goals and assisting as well. Morata, Kane, Lukaku would be useless in our system and that much is clear. He is as strong as an ox, selfless, a team player and has the energy to occupy a whole back line by himself. He is on pace for 35 goals in all comps this season. Also, did I mention how he tracked back and tackled Aguero at the edge of his own box? Look, you are free to question whatever you like. The rest of us ill just sit back and watch The Bobbie Dazzler continue to dazzle us.

That goal was pure beauty seemed to take an eternity to hit the net mind but absolute quality.

Most significant thing though is not on your list - Salah’s totals. Firmino has already equalled his best scoring performance for the club and we’re in January. Salah has outscored him and maybe that has taken some pressure off, both off RF to be main goal scorer and removes some attention on the pitch to give him space. Hopefully Coutinho leaving won’t put pressure back to add more goals.

His position is just his position. Who cares what you want to call him but he’s a great attacking player and happy to have him.
Don’t get hung up on positions too much.

What is a natural goalscorer? Firmino scores plenty of goals, has a perfectly acceptable shots per goal ratio, and I'm pretty sure he's natural not artificial. Is there some criteria that I'm missing here?

Firmino? Hell of a player and Klopp has him playing in the correct position for "system and style" that Liverpool play. All this "not a real number 9 of forward" needs to be put to bed.

Ed are you sure you want to stick with that?

He wouldn't of scored that if he was a number ten? Is that a joke.

You had the luck like the rest of us in watching Gerrard destroy teams from that very 10 position with goals exactly the same as firmino yesterday.

Firmino is one of the best players in the world for me. The pressing is a joke. The skill is delightful and the goals are a nice plus.

In more tight defending games there is problems when he is chasing the ball back to win it (which is brilliant) except that when he finally wins it the pass to the striker isn't on because he is the striker in the wrong part of the field.

Firmino always kicks ass in games like that. Always. It's a dead cert.

It's the tighter games where he could do with being behind someone to be able to do what he loves and let some other muppet take the job up top.

{Ed001's Note - Gerrard didn't score goals like that, he burst through on the edge of the box backing up play, not ahead of it. I really don't know what you saw but you clearly need to refresh your memory of Gerrard's play.}

Brover, I thought I you need to re-read my post. As you say I’m free to question what I want, so I will, but in the same vein Iv made it quite clear in that post that iv been proven wrong by what he brings to the team via him playing up top. I’m simply pointing why some would have an ongoing issue.
