Hey Ed’s if any of you are about, I’d like to ask a question that’s a bit away from any specific transfer. But with Liverpool getting a good profit from Coutinho and if they were to say target a world class player that some people would say is beyond us, I’m wondering how are Liverpool as a club thought of now by the best players and agents around football? Are we thought as a step down from the likes of the Manchester clubs, Chelsea, the Spanish giants, Juve, Bayern, etc. or are we still viewed as a massive club because of our history and how many titles we’ve won? Just I’m always biased thinking people should be feeling blessed to be playing for us or have us interested in buying them but from your knowledge is that how we are still looked at if you know what i mean? Thanks for your time!

{Ed002's Note - The profit related to Coutinho is of no relevance. Liverpool are less attractive because of their lack of success but are clearly happy to spend well over the odds. They remain a well known club and that helps - but only a limited number of players are able to join each year - and there needs to be a balance and they need to fit in.}

Stepping stone to Barcelona lol
No seriously I’m sure players all have different reasons for wanting to join us, some will want to because they are fans and some purely for the money or as a stepping stone.

One of the most attractive things about playing for us is the fans and atmosphere at Anfield.
I saw an article the other day where somebody had said we are no longer a big club. Which is half true, we have a huge history but we rely on that anymore. Players want to join clubs who are big NOW competing for titles and trophies.

Hopefully we get far in this years Champs League and win some form of trophy then continue improving and do even better next season.

Many players would love to still play for us now but the lack of trophies is what puts them off.

Top players would either view us as a stepping stone, or have to be happy to compete with the rest in our league. Unfortunately we are not a top draw, trophy certain team anymore. There does seem a little bit of a seed change recently for some reason, however, but that may just be amongst the fans.

At the minute I believe the finished article players will choose city Chelsea and united above us so we get the players with a point to prove who use us as a stepping stone. Even Suarez decided opinion when he joined us and clubs didn't want to take the risk. I remember Harry Redknapp saying Spurs considered him but thought he was too similar to Van Der Vaart. Sometimes it's not a bad thing getting players with a point to prove as they improve us in the short term. Problem is they leave once other clubs notice them.

Sorry Ed bit of a misunderstanding i know the Coutinho money isn’t really of relevance I just meant if Liverpool were happy to spend big to bring in the type of player we’ve more so seen linked with united and city over the past while do u think most of those players and agents wudnt be as keen on the move when they know of interest from teams who are more constantly competing for leagues and CL on a regular basis or does the name still have a pull even for European players. Suppose you kind of answered it when u said they remain a well known club and that helps! Sorry if my phrasing of the question wasn’t the best it’s been a long day haha.

{Ed002's Note - Players want success and want to be challenging at the highest level. Right now Liverpool are trying to get back to that and the owners are continuing to provide the financial support - but there is some considerable distance to go.}
