With people saying a signing will come in and one which we haven’t been linked to. who do people remember as being the most out of the blue signing we’ve ever had, as in no media coverage about it in the days leading up, never been linked to them before etc.
I’d have to say Raul meireles, that literally came out of nowhere from what I remember and had never once heard him being linked to us or any other team for that matter! Quite liked him as a player too actually for the time he was with us!

Assaidi for me, there was nothing in the press about him and then suddenly the club announced the deal, unfortunately he wasn’t very good.

This one is meant to be a candidate for "most out of the blue", but VVD was actually quite out the blue in a certain way. Yes our pursuit of him was heavily publicised and it was thoroughly speculated for January during the first 6 months of the season, but the manner in which we suddenly secured him before the window even opened was very out of the blue. Everyone was expecting another long and drawn out saga, but nope, it was over just like that.
