My boy who is 9 goes to local football training and plays in a development league. He has also joined a chocolate foot training course, basically you use your weak foot. It teaches balance, striking the ball, control etc.

It is every week just for 1 hour buts lasts a year. The boys are 7 weeks in and small improvements are being made. They train for 40 minutes then play a small sided match where you can only pass or shoot with your weak foot. The coach (who did it last year as well) says real improvements tend to happen after 6 months. They are getting local academy boys coming along as well.

Is this something you have come across Ed's?

{Ed001's Note - I have heard of them but that is all.}

All the boys are finding it difficult but are enjoying it. Most of the international players can only use one foot. In every single game we watch a player checks back on his weaker foot and then the chance is gone.

If we don't sign anyone and one of the front 3 doesn't play, what system would you change to? Or would you play someone else in the front 3?

I once went on a training course run by Coventry city before the end of the week they’d pulled my dad aside and told him they weren’t going to let me go anymore because I was taking the mick out of the other kids. They said I was using my weaker foot to make the other kids feel bad but my dad pointed out it was because I had a groin strain so was taking the time they’d paid for to practice with my weaker foot.

you’d think they'd have something like this for professional footballers too, so many are purely 1 footed as you said mark 😂
When I was younger I used to do everything with my weaker foot to strengthen it.
Even at home we had a really big back garden, and a door inside the backdoor. I used to take "free kicks" from the end of the garden into the back door and did quite well xD
Only thing I couldn’t fix was how much my left foot curved the ball, could never hit the ball straight but I would bend it like Beckham 😂.

my son who is 10 is in something similar, its called an elite academy sponsored by pro direct sports in accrington. Speaking to some of the coaches they tell me they recomend players for certain academys and are in contact with all north west clubs. Apparently blackburn is the best for young players as they don't just sign them for a year then get rid, they keep players for 3 years before deciding if they are progressing well.
