I noticed square tomato 🍅 on the other page so thought I'd say: tell joe to defend his f in post! I know when he moves to CB it won't be a problem but on both sides at full back he's getting done for it. Other than that and the lazy grabs at opponents who've got the turn on him he's playing so so well really standing out and definitely flying to Russia as things stand tell him not to book a summer holiday.

I'm sure Gomez would love to know why his goalkeeper isn't informing him that someone is coming at speed behind him when he's clearly focused on collecting the ball and the keeper can clearly see his challenger arriving.

Not cool dude, I'm hoping this is tongue in cheek. We're privileged to have a poster with a personal relationship with a player, that doesn't mean that ST is a direct line to that player to pass on our criticisms.

ST, all you need to tell Joe is that the fans love him and are really excited for his future.

Well said PutneyRed. Jezza kyle, it's comments like this to players that causes a lack of loyalty for the shirt. He's young, learning and we are lucky to have him. ST please pay no regard to the above comment.

Fully Agree with Putney Red. Although your post is mainly positive as he's been fantastic we should leave off any critisms particular with a player like Joe who has such little to criticize anyway. He is a young lad already performing to a top level with truckloads of potential. One of my fave players in the squad.

Joe himself and the coaching staff will work on his development which quite frankly is scary potential. I rule nothing out for the future of Joe.

The way I see it he’s made the same error Twice and the one against Arsenal I’d definitely blame mignolet for! Joe is young and learning and I know people will give him a chance, he’ll make more mistakes no doubt but he’s very highly rate and has played along the whole back four what other defender at lfc has done that this season? He turned down his boyhood club to come to Liverpool, and other teams would take him very quickly I know for a fact, but he wants to be here and he’ll get better and better.

This sort of post really really annoys me. Firstly ST is not a direct line to spout abuse at a player, any player, nor would doing so help in anyway whatsoever. The club has coaches and other senior players who will be well aware of slight weaknesses in every players game and will be working on resolving them. Simply hurling abuse at a player to "be more good" won't achieve anything.

Then secondly, Gomez is a 20yr old kid who had a huge amount of time out injured and only this season has got a good run of games. let's have a look at some similar players across the top teams and see how they are doing compared with Joe atm.

United - Tuanzebe is their only Defendant in the first team squad who is 20 years old. So far this season he has played 3 games for them. the next youngest player is Luke Shaw at 22, a £33mill defender who has struggled ever since arriving. Gomez is miles ahead of both Tuanzebe and Shaw.

Chelsea - Christensen is the only similar player here. He had a full season in a competitive league last year and is doing quite well this season. But he is also a year older than Gomez. So a year older, has a full season under his belt playing nearly every game and is he playing better than Joe this year? It's pretty close for me.

Man City - Closest to Joe here is John Stones or potentially Mendy. Both of which are 23 (3 years older than Joe) both of which have had at least 2 seasons of regular first team football and both of which cost over £50mill. Mendy has been injured but can you honestly say that Stones is having a better season than Gomez? Their 20 yr old defender? The mighty Tosin Adarabioyo, who is playing great this year isn't he?

Spurs - Davinson Sanchez is probably closest, but he is 21 and cost Spurs £36mill anyway, and is he really having a better season than Joe? Their 20 yr old defenders, Carter-Vickers, Walker-Peters, Whiteman and Foyth. None of which have played more than a handful of games.

Arsenal - Bellerin, Holding and Chambers are all 2 years older than Joe and Bellerin is the only one that you could argue is more accomplished than Gomez but isn't exactly setting the world alight.

Joe Gomez is playing very very well considering his injury history his age and the fact that he is playing in a team fighting for at least top 4. Leave the kid alone, he has stuff to work on and i'm sure he will. Just be very very happy we have a good player and a great talent in our team.

Personally think Joe will be better than everybody you listed on that list RedDawn. Like the post though. He's a special kid.

Like I said I rule nothing out, eg. Captaincy, world team of the year etc.

I'm not saying that to flatter Square Tomato or anything but seriously. The Kid is one of the most talented 20 year old defenders I've seen for a long time. I just pray he steers clear of injury.

Red dawn, Sanchez has been poor (a red card waiting to happen as he is that rash) for Spurs and I would not take any of those defenders over Gomez. He is young and still learning BUT his talent and ability are unquestionable.

Taa and gomez are the two most exciting young players in the prem and wouldn't swap either of them for anyone else even that so called wonderkid from fulham, sessegnon.

Didnt think OP was spouting abuse. At least not how i rrad it, sounded like banter to me, that would come across that way better if spoke in person.
