Just to throw it out there. What we need is a young, hungry, talented midfielder, who has vision, ideally some pace, who can press, get stuck in when needed, and has the potential to become an integral part of the Liverpool line-up, who is attainable and wants to be at the club. I give you, Trent Alexander-Arnold. It was always obvious he was going to end up in the middle of the park rather than right back, and for me some of his ability reminds me of a young Gerard, my suggestion is rather than looking for a Coutinho replacement this window, we go for a top right back instead and put TAA in the middle, perhaps the likes of, Vrsaljko, Sidibé, Joshua Kimmich, Elseid Hysaj, Álvaro Odriozola, (just to throw some random names out there for you ed's) . Gomez needs to be given at least some time at centre back and Clyne it would appear when eventually fit is likely to be leaving. So strengthen the right back position, and look to add maybe a centre back if it is still too soon for Gomez and a Goal keeper, if Karius or Ward can't cement their place in the remainder of the season in the summer.

Not a bad call Bruce.

I meant to add to my post, I'm sure I can speak for everyone on here that our thoughts are with you Ed001, never a more appropriate time to say the words You'll never walk alone.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Bruce Lee, I especially appreciate that from my childhood hero!}

Think TAA needs a fair bit more time before he can play in the middle. His short passing is still a bit hit and miss I think. I like the idea of him out wide in a traditional 4-4-2, but that seems to be a thing of the past.

I’d go Woodburn over TAA, both could do it IMO but Woodburn has the potential creativity and goals that Coutinho takes with him. First choice has to be to use Lallana and Ox though, so its likely only as a sub late on, or in cup games to rest them anyway.

TAA should stick to RB and get really settled in, I’d like to see him a regular starter there next season.

To be fair, we could do a lot worse than Trent. His goal scoring and creativity from right back is frightening enough. Imagine giving him freedom to attack even more.

I'm not sure we should pin our hopes on him, but if we cannot get a replacement this window, why not give him a few chances in a midfield/ wide role?

OP, how we will we know if Karius or Ward are the future if Klopp does not give them a full run in the team instead a game once every mont for Karius and one game a season for Ward?

Both Woodburn and TAA could do it, but in the future. They need to be managed and brought into the first team properly. Not thrown into the creative hole left by Couthinio. That would be asking to much and could hinder there development.

{Ed025's Note - i agree pak..

I agree to an extent PakRed.

However, most people seem to want Lemar (22), Meyer (22) or Goretzka (21).

TAA is 19 years old. He's getting close to the age where he needs to be playing regularly anyway. I also don't get this talk of a creative hole? Mane will take Coutinho's left wing position. We just need depth so that if one of our front 3 goes down injured, we don't weaken the side significantly.

I still cannot understand the upset about mahrez, i think he is a good player and bringing him in alongside a more solid midfield player would be much better business than trying to blow 100 million on a jack of all trades midfielder like lemar, still waiting to hear ed001's opinion on mahrez.

How can you call Lemar a jack of all trades player? I'm sorry but its plain to see Lemar is a much better player then Mahrez.
