Surprised this hasn’t been mentioned but is anyone concerned with what Firmino said? Holgate’s reaction suggests something was said.

It looked like from lip reading he said Puta, which other people on twitter have also picked up on. Puta means whore in Portuguese i. e a prostitute. I know I shouldn't laugh at all but that's kind of funny to me, I don't think he can get in trouble for that as players swear on the pitch all the time.

I am. The vibes aren't good. Saying that one BBC commentator said there was a spit. I hope not.

Colgate was the guilty party, how he stayed on the pitch after that fiasco is beyond me . not sure on the ref tonight .

{Ed0333's Note - it was a red all day long.

He was angry at himself for giving away the pen, fimino stood up to him and did t take to kindly to it, mountain out of a molehill for me. If it was a racist remark there would be more of a reaction from the Everton players imo.

Well if he did say something the ref surely must of heard it as he was standing in front of Holgate when he kicked off like a mad man.

{Ed0333's Note - not sure the referee understands portuguese

Thanks for filling me in Alonso! Big Sam’s interviewed made me nervous. Just don't want another Suarez incident. Anyway happy days we won haha.

Crazy son of a b! tch he said. An he is right! If im wrong ill look a tit, however, i believe Colgate has kicked off at the word "puta" assuming its racism. If he has wrongfully accused firmino, i want a full statement and apology from colgate.
I mean the referee was stood right there, if he used the N word, he would of been sent off. Have we just seen someone play a race card? if we have, players have sunk to a low i never thought id see to get other players in trouble, and if he has he deserves a very long ban.

Of course, flip side, if firmino has used racist language ill be extremely disappointed and encourage a length ban.

{Ed025's Note - COLGATE benny?...maybe he was sending out the wrong SIGNAL as hes not ULTRA BRIGHT.... it was something and nothing mate and a line should be drawn under it for me ..

OP, I'm not concerned with what Bobbie said. Would you care if someone almost injured you by shoving you into the stands as a defenseless player? What we should be outraged about is how a player who shoved a player into the stands (endangering his safety), grabbing the ref by his collar and swearing at him, finished the game? The ref was useless on that situation and yet people wonder why PL don't respect refs. The refs don't assert their authority. In other leagues, Holgate would have been sent off.

{Ed025's Note - sigh..

Basically the ref should have dealt with it straight away and shown a red card. No need for Bobby to react once the ref makes the decision.
The ref totally mishandled the situation. I will defend refs a lot of the time but that was as poor as Andy Durso being hounded by Roy Keane and Jaap Stam.
I think Benny may be correct with his appraisal of the aftermath.

{Ed025's Note - anyone who pushes another person should be jailed for life, swearing 8-10 years, mistimed tackle 200hrs community service....tarts..

Holgate got called something in Spanish whcibtrabslates to whore and has assumed the worst and went on one. The little boy was in the wrong and lucky to remain on the pitch, he should take a step back and realise he’s talented but not to be ‘that persob’ Nothing racist was said, nobody spat you canclearly see what was said and if Holgate knows the Portuguese for a racist term fair play but I doubt it and having watched the game with a half Brazilian (and half Irish so he may have been drunk) I can safely say nothing racist was said. None story carry on only thing would be Holgate getting a retrospective ban which in all honest, the games over and done move on and he’ll learn.

{Ed025's Note - move on is correct...cue abuse from the PC brigade..

Holgate endangered Firimino’s health by deliberately pushing him into the hoardings/ crowd, not to mention the possibility of injury to a member of the crowd, for me that’s way up there as one of the most dangerous tackles of the season and should be seen as such even by blue tinted vision glasses.

{Ed025's Note - have a day off mate..

Look guys - Holgate clearly shoved Bobby over the hoardings with some force, which Bobby reacted to which is, in my opinion, very normal.

This was a derby match with all the emotion that goes with it. Holgate was wrong and should have been yellow carded in my view.

In the end the Everton players were very wound up certainly by big Sam, who has just lost his 3rd game in a row, and is probably already looking over his shoulder.

We won without our best palyers, and I for one am very happy about that.

We are the team through to the next round.

i’m sure derby days used to be like that for a full 90+ minutes but the game has gone soft 😞
Who doesn't love a crazy challenge and a fight in a derby? Cheer up guys bobby wasn’t injured.
