First up well done to the boys for a good win from a tricky tie. Not a great performance but well deserved win. What can i say about Vvd, great start to his liverpool career. He was assured and vocal and made karius shift his ass on a few occasions when he was sitting on his haunches. Good in the air and a great threat at set pieces.

Good performance from robertson, he is definately improving but must work on his forward play and crossing.

Can was poor again, let sigurdson walk past him to score. Not much from him offensively or defensively, seems to just be coasting.

Mane did ok considering he had just stepped off a plane but he needs to get back to running in behind which he was so good at last season.

Milner offered nothing in midfield as usual but he scored the penalty so no complaints.

Lallana looked unfit and lacked touch, didn't offer much and was on the back foot and missed a simple header which saw them break and score.

Ox aside from his dead balls made the wrong decision literally everytime he touched the ball. Seemed like something other than football was on his mind.

Gomez was good in the first half and struggled with lookmans pace when he came on in the second half.

Matip looked languid and coasted through the game as usual.

Karius is not the answer, nothing much more to say really.

Firmino toiled with not much quality around him to work with, didn't get any service at all.

Solanke, wijnaldum and taa didn't really have much time to stamp their mark on the game. Taa however did handle lookman better than gomez was able to and wijnaldum added some basic defence to midfield that was lacking throughout the second half.

Careful pointing out Can's lack of effort 😂 you might get accused of vitriol! It was yet another example of his lack of commitment though, and his passing was atrocious all game. Another game where he was the worst player on the pitch!

With you on that MK, if Can and Matip could drop to the bench and subsequently drop out of the club that would be a good start. Matip at times is comical in his mannerisms and not least his defending and Can is already thinking of good Italian restraurants than the actual match he is in. Apart from that pleased for VVD and also thought Robertson had a good game, next Man City!

OP, Good review overall. Karius had a strange game and seemed nervous and there was a communication gap btw he and VVD which clearly showed that there was a lack of understanding btw the two. I would not say he is not the answer cos you simply cannot draw that conclusion with a player who plays once a month. You simply can't do that. He needs a full go at the GK job to build confidence and better understanding with his back line as that was clearly lacking today.

did we lose that game 5-0? cos according to that review the only players that had a good game was robertson and VVD. its a derby and just as much about hard work and determination - which we showed plenty of and got the win.
