Wee bit of trivia-banter lads,
Who was the most intelligent (on-field) player to pull on the Liverpool shirt, in relatively recent memory

For me it's Peter Beardsley.
(He was sold far too early - he had plenty left)

{Ed025's Note - very intelligent SID...he moved to everton.. :)

Alonso for me, and again sold far too early (or forced out, should I say! )

Molby for me. The guy looked like he could pull strings for 90 minutes without actually moving.

Xabi Alonso for me.

Litmanen, Berger, hamman?

Maybe Hyypia? Never had a bit of pace and very rarely got found out.

It has to be Alonso, Molby, Gary Mac, Benayoun, Hamman, Lucas or Hyypia. How those lot played so well through an era where pace started coming into the game more and more, when they themselves could've been outpaced by a dead tortoise, still defies logic.

Intelligence was what their games were built in. They played in the heads more than with their feet. Unbelievable players, all of them. Benayoun especially because he lacked pace, height, and strength!

Gary Mac, what a shout. He had such an impact when he came in. he's big, he's bald, he's worth his weight in gold!

Alonso by a street.
Also shout out to Digger, that lad was eons ahead of his time.

Least intelligent? Trigger (McAteer) appropriately named 😄.
