Question for ed001 if around.
Why do you think klopp keeps changing goalkeepers around? No other top managers do it regularly not in big games (premiership and champions league) maybe cup fixtures. My taking is he doesn't trust any of them.

{Ed001's Note - actually that is not true, a lot of managers do it. Pep does it for one.}

Chelsea always play their second choice keeper in the domestic cups. Cudicini, Begovic and now Cabellero are all examples of this.

Arsenal use Ospina in the cups.

United rotated De Gea and Romero early last season because of De Gea making at least 3 costly errors over a short period of time, and then again later in the season because of him trying to force a move.

I actually think it's quite common. The only difference is Klopp seems to rotate keepers for League games too. That is a bit unusual but i think it's just because he wants to phase Mignolet out.

MK-Utd didn’t put Romero in because De Gea made costly errors it was because his head wasn’t right after trying the move to Real feel through, and it was the season before last.

There is a difference though. Utd and Chelsea rest world class keepers and bring in their second choice for cups. Arsenal rest a top class keeper and City with Ederson rest what looks to be a top keeper in the making. Where as we constantly start a keeper who costs us games and if we're all honest should be nowhere near our squad. And then Karius gets thrown out of the starting 11 just as quick as he is thrown in. Apart from that no difference 😂.

Great post jayden23.

We get it Jayden, you don't like Mignolet. People who work with the players on a daily basis are paid to make these decisions and you whining about it constantly isn't going to change that.

When it comes to the GK issue, Klopp has been the worst of the lot in the premier league. There is no logical thinking behind the rotation especially since Migs keeps getting opportunities in spite of repeated mistakes. Some say Karius is worse, some say Migs is being phased out. What a shambles!

Sorry, don't mean to single you out. The Mignolet thing is boring. He's not top class but for now, he's Klopp choice. Suck it up.

Wellred - what part of what Jayden just said is not correct?
I'd say he said it perfectly, to be honest.

I didn't say it was incorrect, but if Karius gets taken out of the team again it is because he is not number 1. Just like the other teams, number 2 keepers make way for number 1's, and Klopp has Mignolet as his number 1 right now.

But while we're on it, the 'constantly costs us games' is a misnomer anyway. When was his previous game changing clanger before Arsenal? And any since? I'm not defending him but Cech equally messed up in that game. I've seen Ederson be dodgy several times but gets away with it because Man City's defence generally stops trouble before it gets there. Lloris is regularly in a muddle and Courtois can't hold a candle to a young Cech. The only seemingly infallible keeper at the moment is De Gea, but guess what? He still concedes.

We could do with a new keeper but people go on about it because they can't think of anything else to talk about.

I went to the shop yesterday and bought some chips, they were not the chips i went in to buy but they had sold out, and in any case the ones i bought were cheaper. I think the packaging was different too. WHO CARES? IT"S BORING!

Wellred no worries. We're here to debate and banter so I didn't take it personally that you were singling me out. There's a difference between not liking a player and not rating them. I do not rate Mignolet but when he plays u want him to do well.

Cobra, people have a very blinkered view on De Gea's performances last season. He has a dodgy patch most years, in fact.

De Gea Errors

I had United supporting colleagues who wanted him dropped for Romero right through October, November and December of 2016. Everyone seems to have just forgotten him dropping the ball against Stoke, or conceding direct from a Bournemouth corner. Do you remember how much stick Bogdan got for letting a corner go straight in? It ended his career 😂

De Gea has stepped it up this season and so far hasn't had is yearly bad patch (maybe he'll finally eradicate it) but he was inconsistent to say the least, last season. Maybe a lot of it was the distraction of Real Madrid? I don't know. All i know is he dropped enough clangers to get dropped. If he'd been a Liverpool keeper, we'd still be hearing about it now. The media have peddled their agenda so well though, that people genuinely believe he's better than Buffon who has made less errors in the last 15 years than De Gea has in the last 15 months, and Buffon finished 4th in the Balon D'or awards!

De Gea of this season, is world class. He's worth 20 points a season to that shocking United team, in his current form. I want to see way more consistency from him over at least 2 years though, before I'll put him above Buffon. Form is temporary. Even Oblak has been more consistent. De Gea has the best highlight reel because United are so terrible and concede so many shots.

Mignolet looked great at Sunderland because he got to make lots of saves. The true test of a top keeper, is being able to pull a top save out the bag after 85 minutes of having nothing to do. De Gea is the best in the Premier League (just ahead of Courtois for me), but football exists outside of England too.

Anyway, back to the point, most teams have two good keepers nowadays so they can rotate and have competition if one player loses form. We have Karius, but we need to replace Mignolet with some better competition. Rotating isn't the issue, the issue is Mignolet and has been since 2013. Alisson or Trapp are upgrades on Mignolet in my opinion, but I'd prefer Alisson as Trapp has struggled in Paris, despite looking awesome in Germany.

Wellred. I said constantly start a keeper who costs us games which is totally different to saying constantly costs us games. If it's so boring save yourself the hassle by not reading my comments. Just think the time you save yourself you might get to the shop earlier then to buy your chips.

De gea has the second most saves in the premiership 70 when I checked, I doubt we’ve conceded 70 shots on target, so he does get a lot of practice to be fair.

Brilliant responses, Jayden. Wellred, Migs has been costing us games since he got here in 2013 and no, it is not a misnomer to say he constantly costs us games. It is the bleeding truth and to say that since he has not cost us for a while (debatable, really) before the Arsenal game is a false argument cos that does not soften the blow of him screwing up a routine shot I would have saved by putting my hands up instead of punching the ball into my own net (see the replay from behind the goal) .

If you think it is boring to always touch on the subject then pls, don't participate in the thread or don't respond to it BUT you simply can't tell people what they can or can't post just cos you think it's boring.

Funny JT, the whole point of a debate is to defend your point of view. Your comment adds nothing.

As for not joining in or not joining in, this is the first Mignolet debate I've joined in, and that was only to initially say it's boring because I'm fed up of scrolling past pages of the same old tosh, said in a different way by the same people.

We all know we could do with a new keeper. Reading that several times a day is like it or not, boring. Sorry.
