Ed have you seen much of Lascellas, is he good enough to make the step up? Also I know we put a small bid in for Koulibaly, would you be against signing him?

{Ed001's Note - he is not good enough right now, but he has raised his game to fit in with the level he is at now, so he could well be one of those players that has it in his locker. Playing with better players does improve pretty much every player, but some just grow to fit the level they are at. Sam Clucas has done that, Lascelles looks to be another one who could. It would be taking a risk, but there is risk in every deal.

I wanted us to go for Koulibaly over any of the potential signings in the summer to be honest mate. I still like him. Far from perfect but he is the best available option.}

I really like lascellas, he comes across to me like the kind of dogged fighter and leader that would fit nicely next to matip or even lovren.

He's a cut above any other central defender we have.
He's not the best in the world but he's twice the player Lovren or Matip are.

Any centre back we sign from now on needs to be dominant in the air. That's attribute number 1 IMO.

Agreed Ron.

When you say Koulibaly is the best available option, does that mean Napoli are keen to sell? I think he is the one guy who can fix most of defensive problems, him and Ward in the team can help us a great deal.

{Ed001's Note - not keen to sell no, but they would have sold him early on in the window.}

I would take Khoulialy right now. he is not the greatest BUT will definitely be a step in the right direction. Still not sold on VVD.

I think we will continue with the Van Dijk pursuit to be honest. However De Vrij’s contract is running down and could be worth a punt, even if it’s a free for next summer.

Don't rate De Vrij, Jones. He is injury prone, slow and would struggle with the speed and physicality of the PL, IMO.
