Our biggest mistake in the summer in my opinion, was not keeping hold of Lucas, or getting someone with his experience, attitude and desire to do the ugly things in a game. Remember last season, Harry Kane never got a kick out of Lucas playing centre half at Anfield. Lucas was the best player we had positionally, tactically for defensive situations and better in the air than Matip and Lovern. I admit he was exposed against Vardy playing a high line, but that was a system error with him playing centre back. I also believe that his personality around the place is a big miss. I'm not sitting here saying he's the solution to all our ills, but going forward would you be confident in a pair of any of Matip, Lovern, Klaven and Gomez. A Lucas or even say a Kolo Toure of this world would fill me with a lot more confidence. This is not an attack on any of the above players, it's just that none of them seem to be able to defend in the true meaning of the word. Carragher, was not 6'4'', not the quickest, not able to play 50 yard diagonal pass from deep. But he could organise those around him, put himself in the right positions at the required time. And importantly defended his goal as if his life depended on it. Sorry! Rant over glad to get off my chest.

Lucas was not up to the job either, his legs had gone a long time ago and he was not the biggest of lads either. He worked well in games where we had a lot of posession but crumbled when questions were asked. Fantastic servant for the club but his time had come to leave.

Have u seen Lazio this year they are flying he has fitted in perfectly I might miss Lucas I also miss sakho players with leadership qualities and character.

We had a ready made replacement for Lucas in Kevin Stewart but Klopp decided to sell him too.

I think that is a very valid point caisterred. He linked the south american/ Spanish players with the England players. I would have kept lucus. Did he want to go or was he gently pushed?
