Would really love to see Klopp switch to a diamond for next weekend. We should be strong enough to play an extra striker against Huddersfield.

That would be my team. We need goals, so get an extra striker on there in place of Milner/ Gini. We don't need 3 box to box midfielders. Tell Can to sit in front of the defence and stay back so Moreno and Arnold can get forward more to provide the width. Push Hendo forward so his excellent pressing and selfish runs count for something (he also has a good delivery into the box which could utilise Solanke's height well) Get Coutinho deeper to be creative, and keep Firmino closer to him as they link superbly. Then with Solanke and Salah you have two players who you know will get into the box at every opportunity, and will happily run in behind. And please, play Ward! 😭

Thoughts, Eds and reds? I think with Mane in the team we can get away with playing without an unorthodox striker. But whilst he is injured we need to try something different.

Gotta try something different in my opinion. We can still press in this formation, it just gives us more of a threat in the box.

I don’t know what formation to play. But something needs to change and quick we play Huddersfield next witch is klopps best mate and knows how klopp plays inside out.
If Migs is in then he’s going to lose lots of respect.

I would change to a 4231 myself.
Stick karius in goal, Gomez central with matip and have Can and Hendo sitting back protecting them, it’s a big change to the defence so that’s why I would have both Can and Hendo protecting them, I would hope matip would stay in position as well then.
Trent and Moreno at left and right back.
Coutinho central attacking mid/ free role, with salah and AOC either side of him then Firmino up top.
The defence is an absolute shambles and if we have to play an overly defencive formation for a bit till they get some sort of balance in the team then so be it.
Just play defencive and look to hit teams on the counter as that’s what we are best at, when I say play defencive I mean make sure your in position and well drilled when not in possession none of this keeping the ball at all costs nonsense when you have the ball, if your in possession then get the ball up field as quickly as possible, ban Hendo from sideways or back passes if need be lol
Ed001 said the team are taking too many touches as well, I agree, I would have my team looking to play more one touch football, and move the ball much more quickly and always look to play forward balls where possible.
To me the midfield are very much to blame as the defence, they need to have clear defined roles.

MK, it's the team I would pick, but not the formation. I would go:
Ward
TAA-Matip-Gomez-Moreno
Can-Henderson
Salah-Firmino-Coutinho
Solanke

I would have Can as the defensive minded of the 2 and use Henderson more in the role of how Alonso used to play for us.
My bench would be Karius-Robertson-Klavan-Grujic-Wilson-Woodburn-Sturridge (not sure if Gini is fit)
It couldn't do any worse.

Personally I'd throw all of our attacking subs into defence, can't do any worse and at least we'd have more chance of putting some chances away.

It’s that kind of thinking that meant United got a beating by them. Let’s play our best side available with the best balance and ideally a British core who are up for the battle it will be rather than the fancy dans trying to score 15 goals and look good for the next FIFA game. Number one goal should be a clean sheet. Number two get a goal. number 3 keep the ball well.

I would switch to a 4231 to protect the defence.

I think everyone agrees that Matip and Gomez are the preferred partnership, because of Gomez's inexperience at the top level he needs protection and senior players around him. Therefore I would place Karius in goal and Milner at Right back.
Moreno would keep his place at LB for now.

A defensive unit containing Ward Gomez and Trent is to inexperienced and could really harm their development if not protected properly. It is to big of a change to implement over night.

United got beat by them because they're a bang average team filled with over rated primadonnas like Lukaku, Mkhitaryan, Mata and Pogba.

Seriously why do people rate them? They've played us (where they put 10 men in their own box) and then all the relegation candidates. That is it. And they've still managed to look second best against Huddersfield and Stoke.

Don't let one good result against the over rated media darlings convince you that Huddersfield are a good team. They are relegation candidates still, and if we are too scared of them to play a striker then we really have fallen from grace!

that would be my team too i've been saying for weeks solanke would give you a different option up front he scored goals in pre season and in the u20s give the lad a chance. also I suspect Wagner will be hoping migs is in goal because he must know how well Danny ward preformed for him last season.

I've always been a fan of the diamond. Loved Liverpool with Ince and red knap in midfield. Utd were near unbeatable with butt and scoles.

I think it's a good shout mk, I'm dying to see more of dom solanke and I think hendo will give the kid all the supply he needs. We looked like we lacked goal scoring options against spurs, apart from salah and couts we didn't look like getting through. You have salah and coutinio who can supply solanke too. The defence could do with can protecting them. I would play can and gomes at the back though and have hendo at dm.
