Morning Ed001.

Do you think Klopp will be able to assemble a squad to really challenge for the league?

Our first team on paper can beat anyone on their day IMO but it's when the injurys kick in and squad depth comes into play is when we will struggle.

I honestly think if we'd have had Lallana and Mané fit last weekend, we'd have beaten the red mancs, they were poor.

It's hard though to see past the Manchester clubs with all the money their managers have at their disposal.

{Ed001's Note - if he is given the time, yes I do think he can. He does need time though and, as was said repeatedly when he came in, it will be a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs. Klopp will have to develop youngsters to compete with the richer clubs, which means there will be blips.}

Unlesss it goes horrible wrong, I really hope he’s given time, the last thing we need is yet another manager implementing new methods and ideas etc.

The only other concern is keeping hold of our best players if we’re not winning trophies, again it’s the likes of United that can pay huge salaries to keep the players,

The real test will be holding on to the few top players already at the club. Coutinho's got one foot out of the door already and we need to replace him properly. The others like Firmino, Mane, Salah, Keita need to be in it for the long haul for Klopp to have any chance of building a title winning team. You cannot challenge on a consistent basis if your best players keep on leaving.
Also to make sure that the few quality young players like Woodburn, Kent, TAA, Gomez get plenty of game time in the future. They cost us next to nothing and should form the spine of our team for the future than being used as squad paddings as they clearly have the talent to be regular starters.
Oh and stop signing squad players like OX, Klavan, Robertson, Gini etc. Serves no purpose in the long run.

Exactly my point above Buzzer, need to keep our best players if we’re going to challenge.

The best players only remains if you constantly challenge for the title.

I think anything is possible over time, look at Leicester. I do wonder how much patience managers have when fans start calling for sackings and being constantly critical, he might walk in a few years anyway.

We know that we need to be better defensively and it frustrates us but I have to trust that a bunch of managers and coaches who have won trophies are working on it whilst still trying to keep to their beliefs of how they want to play the game.

Klopp is the best fit for Liverpool right now.

Salah and Bobby seem to really love the club. I don't think we'll ever see either player force their way out.

The real hope is that all these relatively expensive youngsters (Gomez, Grujic, Solanke etc) come good and that one or two of our own grads make the cut to (Woodburn and Arnold clearly have the best chance) . I know we have a lot of other talented kids, but those 5 are the clear standouts for me.

That's half a team there if Klopp and Lijnders can get the best out of them and help them develop into the players they're threatening to be.

We can't compete with the Manchester sides, or Chelsea in the market. But we can be better than them at bringing through young players because we can't just buy-buy-buy.

{Ed001's Note - Salah said he was a Liverpool fan as a kid. Very believable as the club has a huge following in Egypt.}

Mane might though. He forced his way out of Southampton to take the next step and he might do the same with us. Klopp's project is heavily reliant on the understanding and play between our forward players. We are already losing Coutinho and seeing Mane go too will be disastrous for us.
Keita, Mane, Salah, Firmino. These 4 senior players cannot be let go at any cost. Coutinho is gone, the rest need to stay to allow Klopp the breathing space to bring through the kids and keep the project going. Especially in a competitive league like the BPL, managers don't have the luxury of blips. Klopp needs his best players to stay and make sacrifices while the kids learn their trade.
It all comes down to our best players wanting to stay put. The above mentioned 4 players are the key, the rest (young players aside) can be easily replaced.

Isn’t the Ox and LFC fan too?

{Ed025's Note - that depended on how much they paid him drogie..

To the above posters who are proposing infinite speculations.

How about, Let’s actually win a trophy than bottling the finals and celebrating to reach the finals lol!

Why do you think Hazard is sticking with Chelsea or Silva / Aguero sticking with City?

Trophies are like magnets. You win and you keep the best players! You don’t then you lose them!

I would agree with Harry. Unless you compete on the trophy front then the top players will want to leave or at least attract interest from the bigger clubs. Klopp will need a bit of luck with the young players coming thru, some of which have the potential to be very good, especially Woodburn who, for me looks the real deal. I think Klopp gave himself 4 years to win the league, so next season then? A big ask at this point in time but things can change quickly in football. He needs a couple of lucky breaks.

I would rather we give Klopp more time than change manager, I really like him, Like eds said lots of ups and downs, on our day our attack is unbeatable. We have to look to find consistency in attack to keep scoring, some games we look a bit devoid of ideas. As well as improve our defence and keep a solid balance between to two.

If it takes a bit more time of development the team and manager have my full support TAA i rate highly and additionally gomez. Think Moreno still is questionable but has been better this season, looks like some form of discipline is creeping in. Unfortunately when i was born Liverpools dominant era was coming to an end so if it takes a bit more time of waiting to happen i can live with that aha.

Hopefully we pick up some points today!

Gini Robertson and oxade chamberlain are good players who will all have a massive part to play if Liverpool are to be successful. Klavan is the signing that I question but he is left footed and huge and I can see why he was brought in just not enough quality.

Klopp has that charisma to connect with the fans something our previous managers never had which is what keeping is job and reputation safe. Everyone likes Klopp incluing the neutrals. Touch line celebrations. Hugging players, waving hands! He is slowly becoming the face of the club! FSG’s most important investment till date!

I could see him at the club for a good period of time inspite of winning NOTHING in between. He is a long long way off from being a good MANAGER! And I am pretty sure fans will never question him even if he don’t win the league.

We are safe as long as the money is being pumped into the league by Sky, the moment it stops we would then need results and trophies!

What's the point of worrying about Keita leaving before we have even signed him proper! Coutinio isn't gone yet. I'm sure he will leave but it isn't set in stone. Mane won't be off, no way.

The kids will only get better if we play them ahead of others when injuries and poor form strike. If sturridge isn't doing the business we need to give solanke a go, wijnaldum henderson etc need a rest and to be dropped to make way for grujic and coutinho to drop back into midfield.

Didn't the Ox accept a pay cut to join us Ed025 🤔?

{Ed025's Note - apparently fornax, but if he was on minimum wage you will still have been ripped off mate..

IB, i agree with you. I can see Mane forcing his way out in a couple of years. Much as i love him, he seems like he is quite selfish. Not in a bad way, just in that he'll put his career before appeasing his adoring fans. He has forced his way out of every club he's been at when he has decided he's outgrown them.

If we don't win trophies, and Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan etc come calling, odds are he'll ask to go. Might not be an issue in a couple of years though because Alexander-Arnold (who started out as a right winger) could be ready to take the mantle.

He is explosive, great on the ball, clearly has an eye for goal, and is a set piece specialist. I am almost certain Trent will end up as a midfielder or a winger. He's wasted at right back and his defensive side of the game isn't developing anywhere near as quickly as his offensive side is!

On a side note, trophies are made from non-ferrous metals Harry, therefore it is impossible to make them magnetic 😉.
