So what are the opinions on Gerrard taking over as 1st team manager one day?

Would love to see it! Would be distraught if it didn't work out though and he got the sack and had to manage elsewhere.

Hope he spends a long time learning what's what with the youth team before taking over one day in 5 years or so.

If he's the best man for the job then why not.
At present he has a lot to prove as a manager.

His current position is a great starting point, I'd expect should he want to manage the first team of Liverpool, to go and manage a championship club or 2 for a few years to get some experience behind him. I'd love to see him as manager in the future, but I think it's a while off just yet. To be honest, if he was offered the job tomorrow I think he;d decline, he must know himself he isn't ready yet.

He needs to learn to pull his head out of his own backside first.

Doubt he will ever make it as a top manager, he's not a nice person with a short fuse.

Even fergie was not really known as nice person! And with a short fuse too . Not every manager needs to be Ancelotti.

You mean like Alex Ferguson Mikey?

I would give him the chance once there is no one in the playing squad that he has played with.

Wish clubs would give managers time like Utd did with Fergie. I know the game has changed but constant sackings don't seem to offer years of success. Consistency is hard to achieve with new managers every 2/ 3 years.

Jordz, that was another time unfortunately. Now with the high stakes involved, managers are now either given 4 games to impress. And the media do a great job of mounting all types of pressure on them so they can get them sacked. Look at what they did to De Boer (tho not a fan) . That was disgraceful.

They are trying to do the same thing to Klopp just cos he lost 2 out of 13 games in all comps. this season and cos we are having a sticky patch 7 games into the PL season. So much for managers being given enough time in this climate.
