If last season was a fluke and this season is the actual truth then what is the achievement of the manager Klopp?

Yarmond, I whole-heartedly disagree with this false argument that we got 4th based on other people's or other clubs having poor seasons. That is patently false and NOTHING is given to you in football. You have to go out there and earn the right to play, compete and win. The teams in the top 6 bar Spurs, outspent us in the TW last season. By last Dec., we were second in the PL as well and that was NO gift cos we earned that.
City spent 200m alone and Utd spent almost as much while Arsenal out spent us too. We earned the right to play and compete and win the chase for CL footie cos we were able to take points off the big clubs and only managed a paltry 6 losses all season.

Remember that we had a bad Jan, Feb and ealy march as well BUT we still pulled through cos Klopp made the necessary adjustments to our set up and players like Cou, Firmino, Can, Wiji and Migs stepped up when needed to get us over the line. We did that and no one else gave that to us.

Now whether people like you got carried away or not, that is a personal decision cos I definitely was not esp. after watching City out spend us on FB's alone. Klopp being complacent in the TW is just an opinion which I disagree with cos every man and his dog knows that Klopp wanted VVD and Keita all thru last season so how is he complacent, exactly? It's still early and this is just a sticky patch that we will come out off BUT we need to keep working hard and supporting the team cos they need us right now more than ever.

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with money.}

As I said Bingo red we find ourselves in a terrible position or the proper position. It's down to opinions. My opinion is we over achieved last season.

Just to add Keita and VVD (maybe) will not be joining Liverpool until next season. I don't know about you but I like to live in the present and not dream about the future.

Yarmouth, nothing is given to you in any sport as you have to earn it and as a former athlete, that is the first thing I learnt. LC won the PL fair and square and NO team let them win cos of the goodness of their hearts. These teams (Arsenal and Utd) had a shot at us and did not make a dent (did the double over Arsenal and took points of Utd) so how's that our fault? I see the over-achieving rhetoric as an insult to all the work the manager and the boys put in to get CL footie whereas many on here had said they would fail. Fair enough, it is an opinion and you are welcome to yours.

Also, nowhere in my post did I mention next season so don't where you got that from. Like you, I live in the present and right now, we are in a sticky patch which is frustrating BUT that's all it is. We don't know what the near future holds so by that, Klopp can do some things he has control over like focusing on playing a set first eleven for the next 5 games, benching the likes of Migs, Wiji and Studge who are not doing it right now and working tactically to make us much harder to beat even if that means we don't create as much as we do right now. These are just ideas I have and nothing more. Nothing has been decided yet and no one has won or lost anything yet so let's just wait before passing judgement hastily. That's just my take.

BingoRed,

You made 4th because you had a weeks prep for every game. That's the truth. You didn't have midweek trips to Russia etc like united had on a Thursday. You didn't have domestic cup runs as you went out of both. 7 days in between games, no wonder you were sharper most of the time. Now you have midweek distractions your struggling. Probably a false position.

To say it's not klopps fault the TW was poor is laughable. He identified one CB, got told he can't have him and decided to ignore the issue. There are lots of cb's who would improve you. He signed a LB he won't play, even tho Moreno is pony. He chops and changes the keeper even tho both are poor. Spent £40m on poor Ox, one area of the team you didn't need to spend. Karius, Klavan, Robertson, Matip, Ox and Wiji all poor signings.

Stand, how we made top 4 is your opinion and that is all it is and nothing more. If us not having European footy was such an exact science, how come Spurs have only made the CL 3 times in their history after not having any European footie or Cup comps some of the time? To me, that is a false narrative and just a way to denigrate the fact that we finished ahead of two teams who were promised top 4 and not only did we finish ahead of them, we got more points, scored more goals than both and took 8 points from 12 from both teams. Those are the facts, bro.

Also, Klopp made a decision on who he wanted and would not do stop gaps as he already did that with Matip and Klavan, per Ed01. You may disagree with that BUT that is what happened. Had we bought another stop gap and he started making mistakes, you would be on here saying that he should have just bought no one and stuck with coaching up those he had. See how that works? You don't need to agree with a decision to understand it BUT things are obviously always black and white for you. What a great life.

As for the midweek games, we are not winning games right now yet have destroyed teams like Moscow and outplayed Sevilla who were lucky to get a point with the beating they got in the game itself. In the end, we did not take our chances so midweek games is not an issue in the end.

As for poor signings, Wiji was NOT a poor signing as he had 6/ 7 goals and 6 assists and the goals he scored last season were crucial. He is having a bad spell right now. Klavan was 4th choice and Karius is still young and inexperienced and needs games. As for Ox, I did not want him here BUT klopp wants him and as an LFC player, he will have my support. I know that may be foreign to you but that is what a true supporter does. God bless, my friend.
