We can’t sit back. We haven’t learned that way nor have right midfielders to protect our back 2. Sitting back you need absolute focus and concentration for 90 mts which we simply cannot. We struggle for seconds let alone a full 90 mts. The only way we pick up points is by OUTSCORING and let’s pray we score plenty! To sit back absorb pressure you need world class Midfield. We don’t have. Soak up the pressure? Can’t deal with a bloody corner what would we deal with 90mts pressure?

Yes the proper words “ Shape and Positioning “ we don’t have it nor we are capable of it from the top to bottom! I don’t know why some think it’s the easiest job to SIT DEEP ABD DEFEND! We sat back under Alonso!

I thank Rafa for some great memories but we didn't win the league for a reason. I think you have an overly golden memory of our football at that time, Harry. The amount of times we lost points for being overly defensive cost us. I am not suggesting we have it right at this juncture but you oversell the past.

We had discipline in the midfiled something we don’t have right now. Xabi and Masch protected the back 4 and made them look elite class. Nor we have someone to laugh attacks from the deep. Alonso was a master in picking played with his passing from deep as soon as we disposed the opposition. Hendeson pass sideways while Wijnaldum is a ghost in most of the matches. Sit deep and defend wouldn’t happen at Liverpool. We keep the ball hence the danger to our CB’s are reduced! If you give the opposition time and space on the ball, the pressure will creep up and eventually explode!
Do you honestly believe we could defend 90 mts of pressure from UTD! They will run riot at!

If you need a world class midfield to be able to sit back and defend, how come we come unstuck against lower teams that do exactly that? Or maybe, as Rafa proved yesterday, that excellent training and tactics will always be the most important thing as with that you can achieve great results almpst no matter the personnel.

We're conceding goals for fun but Newcastle's goal yesterday was just simply horrendous.

As soon as Shevley picked up the ball you could see exactly what he was going to do.

He wasn't closed down and both Matip and Lovren completely switched off. This isn't about world class players but knowing your job, communication and concentration.

Probably one of the worst goals I've seen us concede, school boy errors. What worries me the most is that we're. not learning from our defensive mistakes ( right through the team ) and our struggles in front of goal continue.
