Ed say we point blank refuse to sell coutinho. Could he announce his retirement, be released from his contract and sign with Barcelona in say 8 months. Just curious.

Ed if a club were to buy a player and then that player were to retire is that player obligated to repay the fees such as signing fees they paid for that player? Didn't Antonio Cassano join a club over the summer then retire a few days after signing or am I thinking of someone else?
