As in the words of Langston Hughes "Beige sailors with large noses binoculars the Atlantic" we come to the two right backs that each of you would like to propose for inclusion in or World Team. My proposals are Daniel Carvajal from Real Madrid and Benjamin Henrichs, the Bayer Leverkusen youngster who is headed for the very top of the game. I would pick these over Alves and Lahm simply because of their age.

I'd go for Carvajal too, quality player. Would also go for Fabinho who, though moved to the DM position, was a deadly right-back when playing there, guy just has a very rounded game. Also not particularly old.

Azpilicueta and Kimmich for me.

Best right back in the world in my opinion is Azpilicueta. So good defensively he has adapted to played on the side of a back 3. So 2 footed he can play left back just as well.

Kimmich is just a great young talented. Maybe the best right back in Germany already, and so good on the ball that Guardiola saw him as a midfielder before he left.

Honourable mentions for Carvajal, Juanfran, Alves, Florenzi and Cedric. Also all very good right backs, but edged out for me by Azpilicueta's versatility and Kimmich's potential. Carvajal is just too reliant on pace, Juanfran and Alves are both getting on and are in decline, Florenzi is being ruined by injury, and Cedric is unproven at the highest level for me.

Lahm has retired, Ed002, although to be fair, he'd still probably be one of the best rightbacks in the world right now if he came out of retirement. My choices would be Azpilicueta and Kimmich as well. Both incredibly versatile which means they can cover other positions if needed. Azpilicueta is one of the best defenders in the world, he's someone who gets the job done with minimal fuss. Kimmich would be a more attacking option to add an extra dimension. I've picked him over Alves because Alves seems to carry a lot of baggage, and although he's a serial winner, his age and his propensity for splitting the dressing room would not be ideal for a team which I'm sure will be full of egos.

{Ed002's Note - Don't be surprised to see Lahm return - he has a couple of offers including one from Hambug they are still discussing.}

Azpilicueta and Juanfran.

5.) 28 Sep 2017

Daniel Carvajal and Youssouf Sabaly.

Not many decent right backs around at this current time which is a shame but for me number 1 is 100% Carvajal and number 2 at this current time as much as I hate to say it Valencia for United. Hasn't put a foot wrong in that position for them in 2 seasons and quick/ powerful going forward also.

8.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 14:38:16
Dani Alves and Azpilicueta.

9.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 14:50:54
Bernardo from RBL.
(we should sign this lad)

Azpilicueta, (As good as I've seen in PL)

10.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 14:55:29
Carvajal and Azpilicueta for me.

11.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 15:05:09
1) Azpilicueta: Good old fashioned full back who does his primary task very well.

2) Carvajal: Done well since Real signed Danilo. Good going forward and has also improved defensively.

Honorable mentions for Heinrichs, Semedo, Meunier.

12.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 15:28:59
Let me stir the pot a litte.

Kyle Walker - best RB in PL last season
&
Dani Carvajal - best RB in Europe.

13.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 15:37:21
Admittedly this is more on what the few times I watched Monaco last season, but to offer a different name, I'll go Sidibe.

Azpilcueta and Meunier to make up the top 3.

I would pick "dave" as my first choice normally, but I thought I'd just offer a different name.

Azpil plays at CB and when he does tend to play full back it's LB so quite how MK rates him so high at RB is amazing.

For me best RB is still Alves. underrated PL RB is Cedric.

{Ed002's Note - César Azpilicueta is predominantly a RB who has the ability to play elsewhere should it be needed.}

16.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 16:14:21
Hi Ed 2,

The same reason I opted for Bernardo of RBL,

Do you rate him? I think he'd suit LFC.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea held talks with RBL about Bernardo this past summer but were told he was not for sale. I tend to try and avoid "rating" players unless someone has made a particular point about a player.}

17.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 16:27:18
Again, like with my GK's, I have to go with players who I see on a regular basis.

My RB's

Bellerín and Kyle Walker who has been very good for City. They are both exactly what it says on the can = Attacking fullbacks :-)

18.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 16:35:04
Azpilicueta and Meunier for me!

19.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 16:57:50
Completey forgot about the Napoli right back Hysaj.

20.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 17:07:51
I understand that ed,

But he plays more times not at RB than at RB.

For me he's the best outright defender in the league.

{Ed002's Note - But you were "amazed" about someone choosing him?}

21.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 17:11:16
Difficult to choose from because there are so few. Azpilicueta for the reasons mentioned above and alves. Reckon lahm would happily come out of retirement for galactic football though so if that's on the cards he'd be number one.

22.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 17:36:55
Coleman before his injury was best right back in the epl for previous 4 seasons imo. Scores goals makes goals and solid defensively. Not a popular shout on this page im sure but credit where its due. To leave him out of any list is showing bias. ( and we are all guilty of that)

23.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 17:59:15
In all honesty, I don't watch much football outside of the Premier league, and there isn't a huge pool of choices here. Some years ago I would have confidently said Seamus Coleman, but sadly, the injuries seem to have hit him hard. Carjaval I liked more while he was in Germany, and Rici Pereyra seemed like a world beater, but I have only seen 2-3 games of him, so it would be unfair to include him.
So:

Azpilicueta - a very stable and underrated talent;
Dani Alves - he was one of the greatest, and keeps proving his class after laving the Barcelona machine.

I think that those two would be good alternatives to each other.

24.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 17:59:25
Azpilicueta is by a distance the best RB around. He is not a CB, he has learnt to play the right sided Defendant of a back 3. He would not be effective as part of a flat back 4 unless he was played at RB. Given that our formation for this team is a flat back 4 he has to be the RB.

The 2nd one is difficult, but for me it has to be Alves. Solely because he has won so much and every time I think he's going to be shown up he ups his game. His defensive skills have improved dramtically recently and if he could only learn to put the breaks on from time to time and not be the further player forward 5 or 6 times a game he would be top of the list.

So

Dave and Alves.

{Ed025's Note - azpilicueta is a good shout dawn but hes hardly the best by a distance mate, him and coleman are very close and it would be the toss of a coin on either of them..

25.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 18:04:09
Agree Ken, Coleman is a quality player. Would have him in my team every day of the week.

26.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 18:15:16
Coleman great defender attacker and a goalscorer best in the league by far before injury.

{Ed025's Note - certainly right up there irish..

27.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 18:18:04
2 agrees on the liverpool page ed025 i feel dirty now😂 good debate guys. Just to qualify over last 10 years alves is without doubt no1 lahm 2.
In epl azpi and coleman over last 4 years are head and shoulders above the rest imo.

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that ken..

28.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 18:30:14
I rate Lahm over Alves, but that's just me.
I'll go for Azpi and Kimmich though. If Seamus Coleman wasn't injured, Azpi and Coleman.

29.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 19:16:45
my picks are azpi, andrea conti of AC Milan.

30.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 19:57:10
Coleman and Carvajal.

31.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 21:42:08
Coleman and Azpilicueta are the Two standout RB in the EPL, regardless of injuries.
But I'd go for Azpil and Alves.
Two very different styles and alves is excellent going forward, while azpil is a solid no nonsense defender who could have played in any era. I loved Steve finnan at rb, he was just class and also got on with his game no matter what. Azpil reminds me of him in a lot of ways.

32.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 22:01:24
Can i pick Javier Zanetti? Even at 44 i'd probably pick him over most of these, he was that good.

33.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 22:08:03
Lichtsteiner due to experience and is as good defensively as he is going forward. And Henrichs also. As Ed002 has said he is young with tremendous potential.

34.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 22:12:26
Al go with one if not best rb ave ever seen marcus babel and present coleman injury has intervened but the boy is still young enough to have his best years a head of him.

35.) 28 Sep 2017
28 Sep 2017 22:24:43
Babbel even.

36.) 29 Sep 2017
29 Sep 2017 04:23:04
Azpilicueta and Coleman.

37.) 29 Sep 2017
29 Sep 2017 05:54:44
i'd gp for Lucasz piszczek from dortmund and dani carvajal, Juanfran from athletico is also good.
but i think piszczek and carvajal are the best attacking RB in the world.

38.) 29 Sep 2017
29 Sep 2017 07:18:21
Dani Alves and Joshua Kimmich.

Dani Alves was excellent for a long time at Barcelona. He has been excellent at Juventus since. He seems to have improved defensively with them aswell.
Joshua Kimmich is younger and I rate him so highly. I think he will be the best there for a long time. My opinion though.

These choices may be swayed by being a Liverpool fan though. Alves is the perfect player for how Klopp wants to play. Kimmich is the perfect player for what we actually need.

39.) 29 Sep 2017
29 Sep 2017 07:51:34
If I could choose from players I have seen most frequently it would have been the mighty Steve Finnan! Such an underrated quality right back. I would also choose Lahm but decided against since he is retired. But since I can’t choose those my choices would be:
Carvajal- no doubt a quality right back- superb work rate, quality crosser on the ball- not bad in defence too.
Azpilicueta- just edges Kyle Walker in my opinion. Based mainly on premier league footy I watch- he is very versatile across the back line and has the ability to make the position each his own. Great player to have.

40.) 29 Sep 2017
29 Sep 2017 09:02:35
Azpilicueta and Carvajal for me.

41.) 29 Sep 2017
29 Sep 2017 09:35:22
Azpilicueta and Alves are our right backs. On to the left backs next. There will be a new thread for that.
