Hi eds1. Thanks for the review I have watched the game yet so it was interesting to get your review before hand.
Quick question
Do you think we've got the spending power to win the league and be up there with a chance to win it again and cups. I don't know weather we were one of the richest clubs back when we dominated the league.
We've got to give klopp time in my opinion he's one of the best around and I don't see anyone better coming in in next few years.
We missed our main targets in the summer (ok VVD was a cock up) and game time but money has to come into it.
City are blowing teams away at the min. Man U look very very good. Chelsea again very good. All spent massive amounts of money. I know we've spent a few quid but nothing like them.
Has it got to the point where you've got go be the highest spending team to stand a chance of the league
As all ways thanks.

{Ed001's Note - not without developing youngsters.}

Chelsea spend big, but they also have a very good 'farming' technique which subsidises their massive spending. Think of all the players that they bring in young, or train through the academy and then sell at massive profit after years of loans.
Would you feel comfortable knowing we were abusing players careers like that?

{Ed001's Note - I never said to do that, I was referring to bringing more players like TAA through, not farming.}

LONGTHING76,
KLOPP will be given time, but if he keeps making the same mistakes and expecting different results he is in for a rude awakening, remember he was making these same mistakes last year. if he is still making these same mistakes next year his cover will be blown.

if he keeps making these same mistakes till next year then we are certainly doomed. Remember no one is bigger than Lfc if changes are required then changes should happen.

Thanks for the reply
So we need to get it right with the kids more than any other top team to have a chance of winning the league year after year.

{Ed001's Note - that is why Spurs are able to stay competitive, as they develop players rather than buy them. We always used to do that in the past as well. It was very rare a player was bought and went straight into the side, they used to have to undergo a learning process in the reserves first.}

Bringing more players like TAA through is fine if we had more players like TAA. We don't. He's a one in generation. Devloping young players? That means losing for a couple of seasons and finishing 6th or 7th with the hope that they are going to mature into players who can move into top four or top position. In this day and age, with the attention span of supporters and worse their loading on to a game their dreams and aspirations, you'd be a brave team to take that approach. Although, Southampton do it well but with the proviso that they eventually sell their young developed talent.
We don't have the money to compete with Chelsea, ManU and City. To get players, we have to buy them before they peak, which implies greater risk. The big teams are buying the absolute best when young and the best when developed.
To win the league again, we need rubbish seasons all round from the others, a perfect season for ourselves and injuries to be at the absolute minimum.
Back in the real world, we've started slow which Liverpool have done since the 1970's which is either down to the way we play, ping passing and moving which needs time to find the rhythm, rubbish weather up north, or take your pick.
We'll see over the next month or two as he gets flak from our supporters just how good a coach, manager, human being Klopp is. I for one think he's the one for the club eventhough he's made a balls of building a defence but them be the breaks. Who knew Matip was a smooth operating narcoleptic? Who knew Migs and Karius would be long term non improvers? Or that Southampton would refuse the thought of 80 million?
It's never dull.

{Ed001's Note - TAA is not one in a generation at all, and developing young players does not mean finishing 6th or 7th. I am not even going to read the rest as that was such utter tosh.}

Cheers Ed. Read the stats instead of my tosh. And as for Liverpool buying players who went into the reserves. Hansen, Dalgish, Neal, Thompson, Lawrenson, Kennedy. I could go on but you're out toshing me.

{Ed001's Note - keep going then. I could point out that they are only a few names compared to the numbers bought, but it would be a waste of time.}

Nothing will happen at the end of this season as Klopp is not getting sacked, end of. If you want him sacked, buy the cklub and sack him yourself and then hire Woy back cos he's the only manager that will be available. Enjoy.

BINGORED,
No one is saying they want him sacked, my point was if we keep making the same mistakes and end up finishing 5,6 or 7th then QUESTIONS will be asked, with the money coming in now off the BPL we can't afford to be having SNAKES and LADDERS seasons.
