Get my post in early before all the crazies rant about nonsense.
This is what I call a write off game. We already know our weaknesses in defence. The mane red card is frustrating because the lad didn't mean any intent and only had eyes on the ball. Extremely unfortunate but I do agree it has to be a red. Very unlucky situation.
It was always going to be an uphill battle from then on. Still haven't seen the first goal we conceded to comment but just an unlucky situation overall.
It's one game. It's one loss. It's not a disastrous performance or lack of effort.

{Ed002's Note - Right Al. Folks have forgotten that the game is away the a very good side who might well end up winning the league. It was always going to be a tough game for Liverpool.}

I'll agree with you this time Al. Do wanna mention that the reception Milner gets from Citeh fans speaks volumes about them. Dude gave his all for that club and they do that.

But we don't just concede against good teams though do we.

Big Al, watch the second goal by Jesus, completely lost his markers to scored with a header.

100% agree, you're talking good sense Al.

It was a 50-50 game where they'd taken one of their chances and we hadn't up until Mane made a genuine, unfortunate mistake and got sent off. As much as Gary Neville believes (and possibly correctly) that the challenge would've been a yellow card had it been on any player other than the goalie, the decision was right within the letter of the law, and none of us would've been happy if Gabriel had kicked Mignolet in the face, even accidentally, and stayed on the pitch.

You work on the first goal in training because it was a poor giveaway, and then write off the rest and pick the players up for mid-week. It's all about how we react next game.

Don't think we were in the game from the start. these 12:30 kick offs really don't suit us for some reason. We always seem lethargic.

Couldn't agree more tbh, even Klopp has planned for the next game with the look of his subs.

We're just used to destroying teams who like to attack. I think it was gearing up to be a cracker regardless. Shame about card but these things happen in football. Support the team even when we lose, even when it hurts as much as it does now. If I am critical- I worry about the tinkering of klopp. Not sure he knew what he was doing or else the players fully knew. Might I ad, didn't think Moreno was dreadful despite the horrific score line. And let's not all destroy taa just yet. He's received an education today. Let's hope he learns from it. Ynwa.

Balanced post Al. And I agree with mane if he got the ball and scored he'd be the hero unfortunately he didn't and deserved to go. My major problem is that we all know the problems with the defence and keeper why the hell hasn't it been sorted. What's the point of having a good attack if the defence and keeper are championship standard or less.

Fair points Al.
Unlucky with the red though?
Not sure on that personally.
If you've ever played the game at any level (which you probably have) I'm sure you'd know that you can't pull out of a goalscoring opportunity like that.
You see the goal and you see yourself getting there in your mind's eye - you back yourself.
It would have been yellow if no keeper was involved.
There was clearly no intent to injure by Mane and there was no physical evidence of any contact with the keeper was there?
Ederson I believe feigned injury, he's just returned to the sideline to be a spectator as I write this for goodness sake.
This is the way within the game now with younger players, cheat to gain any advantage.
Bet you he will play either mid week or next weekend.
For Gary Neville to say it wasn't a red card should say it all.
Awful day whatever way your opinion is though.
Coutinho will definitely start next weekend now.

I'm aware some of the goals we conceded were poor nicky but we already knew our defensive problems. However it's unfair to really judge anyone. Away at city, a goal down (haven't seen ityet) and a man down. It affects the players mentally as well as physically.
We just have to take it on the chin and move on. Every team will have a game like this.

Gabriel Jesus is 5'9 and still managed to get in between out cb's and scored with his head.

After the dismissal, it was always going to be hard. it totally killed the game for us. but 2nd half worried me. the defence looked in tatters. we could have defended better once we knew we will get nothing from the game. we have to regroup and move on now and prepare for next game.

De Bruyne ripped TAA to cross it to Gabriel Jesus, why didn't you point that out Nicky?

Anybody can score from a cross but it's the full back's job to stop the cross in the first place.

In fact TAA was ripped for whole game but so what, move on man. you are like a broken record! The defence as a whole were awful today, but the red card made their job completely impossible.
It wasn't a red card for me, but hey ho, I'll have to get over it and move on too.
