Hi ed001

I heard Aldeweireld is having contract issues. I remember you saying that Matip doesn't have a long term future as he is just a stop-gap. Would Liverpool fancy a cheeky bid for Aldeweireld?

{Ed001's Note - I am sure Klopp would love him, but we have yet to show interest.}

Apparently City are interested. Hopefully if we do ignite interest, we can sway him towards us just like we did with VVD - except, legally this time.

Can you just imagine if we got Alderwierald and VVD?! OMG. happily sell Coutinho for those two.

Ed mate, can I ask you a question please?
Are liverpool able to make a bid for VVD in January or next summer? Without getting on trouble over the whole tapping up thing?
Has our interest ended now? Do you see Southampton changing their stance?

Cheers dude, fantastic site!

{Ed001's Note - it really comes down to Soton. VVD has asked repeatedly to be able to leave and join LFC, but they have so far refused. Unless they are willing to let him sign for us, I don't expect us to do anything.}

I would take Alderweireld over VVD any day n twice on Sundays. Brilliant all round footballer.

Cheers for the reply ed01.

It will be interesting to see how vvd reacts with not being able ho leave. I'm starting to regret keeping hold of coutinio as the rumours about his attitude are worrying.

I feel that this year is going to define lovren's career. If he manages to find the form he showed at Southampton, us fickle fans will love him again. If he has anything but z great season I think liverpool will move for another cb in the summer.

You got to give credit to Spurs. When everyone around are throwing massive wages to every other players Levy has kept everyone with in the line! AOX £125k, Tobby £60k.

Didnt Liverpool turn down the chance of signing Alderweireld at the time he went to Spurs? Im sure I read that on here at the time.

Matip a stop gap? Really?

I can see Spurs imploding in the next 2 to 3 years. They have CL level players on mid table wages. They're sustaining themselves on their past two title pushes but if they fail to challenge again this year (which is quite likely) then their best players will run for the hills. It's already started with Walker leaving and the comments Rose made. Aldeirweld may be next to leave.

Alderweireld will leave Spurs regardless of where they finish this season. IF Klopp wants him, then 200k a week and probably 25-30 million pounds does the trick.

Indian Buzzer, you seriously believe that Levy will let Alderweireld leave for 20-30 million?! Id imagine 50 million +.

Edd01 bit of a fantasy football question for ya, if you could pick any back 5 to play for us, what would it be?

{Ed001's Note - all time or current players?}

13.) 05 Sep 2017

Current players edd01.

{Ed001's Note - the obvious one is Godin, but, much as I rate him highly, he is not suited to a high line. Alderweireld alongside Vertonghen have such a good partnership it would make little sense to break it up. Probably go with Tierney at left back and probably Hysaj at right back.}

Can I enquire about both options please.

{Ed001's Note - all time would be Hansen, Lawrenson, with Barney Rubble at left back and Rob Jones right back.}

No room for Stevie Nicol Ed? Wasn't he football writers player of the year in 88/ 89? In fact, has any other full back won that of the PFA footballer of the year awards?

{Ed001's Note - Nicol played midfield and left back as well, I nearly put him in as the left back because he was an awesome player but Jones is the best right back of my lifetime without a doubt.}

Great shout on Hysaj of Napoli at RB, Ed. He is truly a gem at RB and would lay waste to Walker at RB. if Walker is 54m then Hysaj is 200m.

{Ed002's Note - Napoli's Elseid Hysaj remained of interest to Arsenal and Barcelona after Chelsea, who looked at him as a potential replacement for Ivanovic, decided not to pursue their interest. Both were disappointed that he has signed a new contract after a further approach by Arsenal in late September 2016 although Manchester City did make an approach this summer only for it to be rebuffed. Barcelona turned to Bellerin but had little luck there.}
