What's everyone's opinion on what to do with coutinho?

Personally I'd put him in the first 11 straight away against city. I know our team would ev hard to drop but I feel if he doesn't play it'll make relationships worse with the club. Let's just get past his mistakes and get behind him again.

Having him come on as a sub would be fine but I could imagine him getting so much stick from the fans (both sides)

Just my opinion as I want him to help us challenge for the title and not waste him away with the reserves.

He won't start against City, what sort of message would that send to the rest of the squad that has just thrashed Hoffenheim and Arsenal. I think he will probably be on the bench and will be gently eased back into the first team picture.

I would ask coutinho if he's ready to get on with being a footballer again, if not leave him out, if so stick him on the bench, no automatic route to the first team, needs to prove himself again first.

Even if he had genuinely just been injured and none of the Barcelona things had happened I don't think he should go straight into the starting lineup. The other midfielders have been playing great and don't deserve to be dropped.

No, for a few reasons.

1. His head needs to be right before he's put back in to the team.
2. The team has been playing well as is, so why change it.
3. It sends a poor message to the other players, they've been training, playing well and generally working hard and you immediately replace them with a player who hasn't trained and tried to engineer a move away from the club.

First things first, the relationship between Klopp and Coutinho needs to be sorted and ensure all his teammates feel comfortable with him again (they should be, they're professionals) .

The fans don't need an apology, fans are fickle and if he starts playing when again then everything will be forgiven, as we did with Suarez.

I'd leave him out of the team until the cup game against Leicester then if he puts in a performance start bringing him back in to the first team fold.

Why put in Coutinho straight away after all he has done? He needs to earn back his place starting off with an apology that he acted like a teenage brat.

The club owes him nothing. He is being payed his wages and needs to abide to his contract. End of the story.

The pressure will be on him to play well immediately. I can see the Leicester away cup game to bring him back.

I'd stick him on the bench.

I would like to hear eds1 opinion on this.

{Ed001's Note - depends on what his attitude is like.}

He needs to earn his place back in training the same as everyone else.
Put the work in, show your commitment, then you're available for selection.
Mope about, don't work in training = not in march day squad.

Should apologize to the dressing room then get his head down in training and get on with it. First time he smacks in a 30 yard free kick all will be forgiven.

If his heads right play him let's be honest you don't just toss your best players to the side. He always turns up for the big games and it's silly to omit him due to stubbornness, if we make him wait or demote him for a game or two who benefits? We certainly don't.

We go 1 nil down against city and everyone, including every poster here, will be screaming for him to be brought on.
Who cares about his head? He doesn't score many with it.

I know he's a different kind of headcase to Suarez, but after he agreed to join Arsenal in Summer 2013, he pretty much blew the doors off that season.

Play him. That's the nature of football these days. Play your best. All the old stuff about loyalty and club bullshit went out the window the day supporters stuck a satellite dish on the side of their houses.

If he#s having a good season, sell him for 250 in January and buy Lemar for 100. He'd be brilliant with Keita. A decent DM and we'd be laughing and have a full on Klopp 6.
Onwards and upwards.
To think it all started with those ugly dishes! Used be a time when Frank McAvennie was top scorer in a league that nobody was watching on a TV anywhere and you heard about it on Wogan.
