IMO, going into a champions league season with lovren, Klavan and Matip as our centre backs is mental. I know people will say Gomez will play, rubbish. He's played more games at full back than he has CB. Emre Can has played more games at CB than Gomez.

So are you saying that the manager will field and empty shirt if hasn't got 2 of those 3 rather than Gomez? The lad is getting game time and that in itself is significant. If it comes to it I'd fully expect him to be used.

Gomez is a centre back though? He has also just been made England u21 captain, such is his talent.

Besides, what is wrong with Matip, Lovren and Klavan? I think they could be improved on, but last time i checked we finished 4th with them last season and we would've been higher if we hadn't been missing Mane, Henderson and Matip for about 10 games.

We don't all agree. Perhaps if you laid of the players and stopped creating this anxiety amongst the players then perhaps they will perform with more confidence. Take Karius for example. His first mistake with the ball at his feet and most fans were on his case. The poor lads confidence was shot to pieces. Give the players a break, get behind them and you might see improvements.

Agree with MK
They are 4 decent centre backs. Our style of play will always leave us exposed at the back at times.
That style of play also leads to us scoring plenty of goals.
We look far stronger squad wise this season than last and that includes the defence.
We didn't get everything we want from the window but the. What team does. I think we've done decent business.

MK, there's nothing wrong with klavan lovren or matip so long as they don't have to defend. I like Gomez but he is very inexperienced. We have no problems going forward our issue is defending, and so far all we've done to address our defensive issues is sign an attacking LB.

What is wrong with Klavan and Lovren? Do you watch any Liverpool games? Klavan has about as much pace as a 3 legged Donkey and Lovren makes errors every game and is a penalty/ red card waiting to happen. As for them being improved on at their age I really can't see them getting any better.
