Despite the solid signings of AOC, Robertson and Salah (plus Keita for 2018/ 19), if Coutinho goes and neither VVD or Lemar sign, do people think this has been a successful transfer window for LFC?

No stupid negative comments please. Genuine perspective and feedback please.

I don't. Squad wise I think we are haven't improved. Yes we have a left back but we won't have anyone that can pull the strings or a CB that will be able to command the back line.

I still think we can push for top 4. But we won't win anything.

That's the difference between us and the likes of City and Utd.

They've bought in all the areas they need.

If coutinho leaves then no, we have not replaced our best player. If he stays and continues to play for the club for another year then yes, even though a centre back should have been a priority I would still be confident of at least a top 4 finish with that strong squad.

Successful in some ways but if you look at it we could have signed all those players without champions league football.

Coutinho is staying, need a CB but generally a decent window 7.5 out of 10.

I would say unsuccessful as we haven't strengthened 2 of our weakest positions (GK, CB) and have lost our best player.
I do however think we have been successful in the fact we have got Salah, Robertson and Solanke in for what I perceive as cheap in this seasons market.

I would rate it as a 5/ 10 if we lose couts and nobody else arrives.

No centre back makes it an unsuccessful window. We knew after the tapping up saga we would not get him. Sure there are more ball playing CB's out there. Klopp and the club has messed up IMO.

Tough call to be honest.

If Cou goes and no replacement is found, we have screwed up, big time. If everything stays as is with Cou staying, then I am fine with it as we have a wider squad and all our positions bar CB, have been improved upon and we have more points, more goals and more clean sheets than this time last season. Time to get behind the team now and kick on. Next stop: City.

I'm OK - not ecstatic but OK. Coutinho is clearly unhappy and so as long as doesn't weaken the team too much best to let him go. As a replacement Salah is almost as dangerous on the wing IMO, and Ox gives us additional depth.

Elsewhere Robertson improves us at LB and frees Milner to add cover in midfield?, plus we know Keita is coming next year. Solanke looks very good business and we'd still have cash to go back in Jan as required.

VVD would make it a good window, Lemar too would make it excellent.

I think you know the answer. No. In that case it would be a shocking window mate.

If Coutinho leaves and we fail to sign van Dijk and Lemar it's a failure. Particularly if Lemar signs for Arsenal. As they'll have mugged us twice, once in over paying for a mediocre footballer in the last year of his contract and twice for beating us to one of the brightest talents in European football. Personally I never want to see Coutinho in a Liverpool shirt again after what he has done so the club is being stupid in not selling and bringing someone talented who does want to play for us.

Yes given that we will have made a substantial profit in our overall dealings and have a Better squad thanks to the emergence of Arnold and reemergence of Gomez.

Whilst I'm a huge Coutinho fan he starts a season well, goes missing for 3-4 months in the middle and finishes well.

I'd love sturridge to get a bit of luck and remain fit too.

At least we are making money back on players now after years of over spending and Mis management. If Klopp can learn a few lessons from last season then I think we can have a right go in the league and CL.

I think we'll be better equipped for injuries and rotation. But star quality wise slightly down.

Just think we have torn Arsenal to shreds and still have lallana, ings and Ox to add to that squad. I think we'll be fine, but with Lemar or Vvd we'd be in dreamland.

Final wish would definitely be a centre back.

Same question to Ed's 1 and 2, what are your thoughts?

Thanks

Klopp was not looking for a new GK so that part is incorrect, Hailstones. We are much better than we were last season esp. if we keep Cou as the statics already bear that out. If we get a CB? great. if not? We move on and continue working on our defensive issues as even Maldini alone will not fix our issues.

Thanks Ed, I agree, but would say what a window it will be if we can add VVD as well. Perhaps in January if not now?

I believe that Klopp is the best manager around with the possible exception of Joachim Löw. I think that Klopp had a bit of an issue with how to break down stubborn English defense's where 11 men play behind the ball but I believe he has adjusted. If the fault is not with the manger or the system that means that the players are not up to it. They lack that critical edge that transforms you from a contender to a Champion. If no more players are signed and we lose Coutinho I would say that we get top 4 only because Arsenal is self destructing and we may get to the quarter finals of the Champions league barring serious injuries.

With VVD, Lemar, and keep Coutinho for a year assuming he can get over being paid £150K a week to kick a football around in North west england rather than Spain. I believe we can get 2nd place in the league with a possible push to Champions and into the semifinals of the Champions League. I have said Benzema would be a great addition but Mueller would be a good option just a top quality striker would be great but with so little time left if we haven't been working it I don't think it happens.
