Was just thinking who of the previous managers signed which players from the current squad. Struggling to remember but did Brendan sign Clyne, Gomez, Lovren, Moreno, Can, Coutinho, Milner, Lallana, Sturridge, Ings, Origi and Firmino? Didn't he also give Sterling his debut and get shot of Carroll? Not sure where I'm going with this but Brendan's legacy is going to play a big part of any success we have we this squad. His team selections used to frustrate at times and there's no way he motivates players like Klopp can - but maybe his tenure should be better respected.

I think Kenny signed Henderson, and Mignolet leaving Salah, Matip, Mane and Wijnaldum as Klopp signings.

Happy to stand corrected if I got any of that wrong or missed any.

as much as I couldn't stand him any time he opened his mouth I have to agree with you.

Yep.

And reaffirms the difference between a manager and a coach.

For example a manager must bring his 9qn players in and get to ship a whole host of players out.

A coach comes in because he is better suited to the players already in the squad.

We went with the coach rather than the manager and it has worked wonders.

Couthino was identfied by rafa and tracked by liverpool for a really long time, firmino was transfer committee and awuful as a wing back under rodgers.

{Ed001's Note - Rodgers was head of the transfer committee.}

Mignolet was Rodgers.

Pompey, you are partially incorrect. It was KK who gave Flanno and Sterling their debuts vs City in 2011 (3-0 to LFC) and vs Wigan in 2012 (1-2 to Wigan) . Also, BR's legacy is tarnished by saying that even tho as the head of the TC, he oversaw the signing of most of these players (including the hapless Balotelli), he could not wait to slag them off, destroy them in the media, trash the TC for undermining him (while he was the boss of them) in a bid to save his own neck when the pressure was on. Sorry but those are the facts.

He signed Can, Lallana, Firmino, Lovren, Moreno and did not know what to do with them. It took a top manager to come in and make them better. He almost got shot of Hendo in favor of his son Allen and is Allen still here? No. His tenure can never be respected as it should IMO, cos he unlike Klopp, would never defend the players nor would he take responsibility for anything that went wrong under him due to his own arrogance. He may have come to us as a good coach BUT left us as politician who cared a lot more about his image in the media thantaking care of his own players.

Yeah I'd go along with that Bingo. It's just that when I started going through the BR signings from the current squad the names just kept coming. I think Klopp has markedly improved Firmino, Lallana and Can from the players they were under BR and also deserves credit for keeping hold of Gomez and Moreno (fingers crossed on Moreno) . The Klopp magic hasn't worked so well on Clyne and Lovren but his 4 big signings so far have all worked out pretty well - Mane, Wijnaldum, Matip and Salah with a cracking prospect in Dom Solanke - so no reason not to trust him in this window.

I think if we could get Lamar and VVD for similar dough that comes in for Coutinho then we should do it. It is a shame however that we won't see a fully firing Pipco playing for the current LFC 1st 11. We may never know how good that could've been.

Spot on, Pompey.
