Just to be clear Bingo, i don't want Ox instead of Lemar. I rate Ox as a rotational player, but Lemar is a star player.

I want both players to sign though.

Also, you can't compare Ox to Lallana in terms of goal scoring as there is a 7 year age gap. Ox is a 23 year old utility player. You'd be better served comparing his goals at the same age to Emre Can as both have been shuffled about the midfield and defence and are the same age.

In fact if you do want to make this about stats, at 23 years old Gerrard had 22 goals in 193 Liverpool games. Ox has 20 goals in 198 Arsenal games. Just a small comparison to show how pointless it is using a goal return to judge a 23 year old midfielder.

I rate the Ox. Pure and simple. It's fine if you don't, i just think some posters are going over the top.

I have no issue if he play anywhere except CM which he is not! He is not a bad player but not a CM!

MK you can take this even further and could add the goal/ min and you should get a better goal/ min from ox then gerrard had (considering ox has come of the bench a lot for arsenal and gerrard beeing more of a first team player)

I think Ox wants to take the same devlopemnt as lallana at liverpool going from an outside player to a more central role. Lallana (and a few others) had problems playing under rodgers but developed into decent players in klopps system. Firmino for example didn't really score that much and was played out of position under Rodgers and look at him now with Klopp. Completly different outcome.

Would the Ox improve our starting 11 - No.
Would the Ox improve our squad - Yes

I would be happy if he signed.

We will hopefully have a lot of games this season and our current squad has no like for like replacements for Mane and Salah incase of injury/ rested.

I would not want him ahead of Lemar, but I would like both.

I believe ED1 has said the 2 deals are unrelated.

VVD, Lemar and the Ox would make a great end to the window.

I'm sorry but I don't rate him at all, all we're doing is spending a ridiculous amount to block the development of Grujic, Woodburn et al.

I just don't understand why he wants the move so bad if he isn't guaranteed to be a first team regular which he most likely would be at Chelsea, the amount of potential CM's we'll have is ridiculous.

I'd be happy with the Ox as an understudy to Salah and Mane for the big games and then try him at centre mid for cup games if that's where Klopp sees his position. We need to either keep Coutinho or sign Lemar as well though. If Lemar deals fails and Coutinho goes then it's a poor window.

Here here MK Scouser.
A lot of negativity on here about what AOC is not. How about a positive take on what he is.

He is still a young player
He is a very experienced PL player
He is a player that burst onto the scene with great talent but has lost his way and not developed at Arsenal, . like others at that club.
He is strong, quick and technically good.
He turned down the champions and 2 offers of strong contracts in London.
He appears to want to play for Liverpool.
He appears to want to develop his game under Klopp believing he can get back on track and reach his potential under him.

If he signs it is because Klopp and his coaches see in him the raw material they like to work with. Our job will be to support him and give him 12 months coaching time (I rememver loads of people on here slatting Can last season)

As long as the Ox isn't a replacement for Couts then I'm fine with him being a squad player.
He won't improve our team, but will improve our depth 100%.

He prolly just wants to come to us and ditch London, period HX.

is his move 100% based on the position he will play in the team he signs for? I think wenger has gone stale and the ox has stagnated.

I think for a winger, goals is a very good gauge of how effective they are, 9 premier league goals in six years is poor whichever way you choose to look at it. Is he better than Mane or Salah? Not a chance, the weekend proved that. As for being a centre midfielder, it is utterly ridiculous to suggest he has the quality to be starting as a centre midfielder for a team competing for titles or has ambitions of competing for titles (he has been shown up every time he has played there by superior opposition) . He is a very average winger and a very poor centre midfielder. A bench player at best, because he lacks the composure, passing range, shooting ability and all round game to ever be a really top player.

Agree with you Carra, and to some extent with Adam (although many posters will use the stats you quoted as a stick to beat you with, despite you saying they are meaningless! ) .

VVD, Ox and Lemar would make an unbelievable end to the window!

Whilst I fear that Ox *could* stop the path to the matchday squad for some of our youngsters, I have always believed that if you are good enough you will shine. More competition for places can only be good for our performances, and as long as the first team has been improved, that's the most important thing.

Salah = first team
Robertson = first team (once his fitness is Kloppified)
VVD = first team (if he comes)
Lemar = first team (if he comes)

We *may* lose Coutinho from the first team, but I would argue that Salah is a better winger than him.

In addition, between TAA and Gomez, we have a couple of new first team options at RB.

So, if we get all of these targets, we have improved (in my view) 50% of our first team outfield.

Couts will obviously be a miss as he is a special player, but his first team position from last year has already been replaced and improved by Salah.

Ox would be a great addition from the bench, although not in CM as Harry has said. I do rate him better than Milner in that regard, not least because of his age and pace.

As a side note, if only Saints had kept their team together in the last 10 years - what a team! They are in the last decade what West Ham were the decade before, a shame for their fans.
