Morning all

Ed001 i've just been reading that apparantly AOC has so far rejected Chelsea and is holding out for us to bid for him as he wants us not them. Does that sound like there is any truth in it to you?

The fact we have bid for Lemar surely means Klopp prefers him over AOC, or could we sign both?

Im just hoping we don't pull out from chasing Lemar and settle with Ox. That would be like going out for Steak and finishing up with a Pot noodle.

{Ed001's Note - yes it is possible, his preference has always been to join us. They are not seen as the same thing to be honest. Lemar is to replace Couts, Ox is a utility player to cover gaps in the squad.}

Ed001, is Ox content with most probably being a utility player if he comes? From what we understand, he wants to leave because he's sick of being played out of position everywhere, but it seems like Klopp would do exactly the same.

{Ed001's Note - he understands that he will have to accept being used in a number of positions, but he believes he would suit the way Klopp likes his central midfielders to play.}

The price we pay for Lemar will be outrageous though. Im thinking 80 million euros or even more plus Origi on loan. The kid will have a lot of pressure to perform from the get go.

Thing is that he's not good enough for our starting 11. Whereas someone like Lemar or Kovacic genuinely improves us, Oxlade doesn't. He's been shown time and again to lack the ability and intelligence to play centre midfield so why should we waste £40m on a square peg?

It should be Lemar replacing Coutinho. Quality for quality. I'd be ok with OX signing as a squad player but again that may block a youngster's progress into the first team.
So let's just sign Lemar and VVD, and be done with it. Make Barcelona pay through the roof for Coutinho, and everyone goes home happy.

Agreed, IB. The whole Ox thing is just a waste of time. We need players like Lemar and VVD (not a big fan but it is who JK wants) to bolster the squad right now.
