Ed002, do you happen to know (or have heard anything) what the sticking points are with Can and his contract? Seems to most reasonable observers that he's a big talent and his stock is on the rise and that the club should move hell and high water to get him to sign if.

{Ed002's Note - No but it would be reasonable to assume it is the standard "game time" issue that many clubs are finding issue with.}

Cheers Ed. These things are pretty intangible aren't they? I know there was always the rumour of Glen Johnson's 'if he's fit he plays' clause, but they don't really happen do they?

He's playing regular at the moment and given his current form should continue to play on a regular basis. Hopefully should that be the case it'll be enough to convince him to sign a new contract with us. Would be a real shame to lose a young player with so much potential. I think most of us myself included can be guilty of judging and righting players off too quickly. Amazing how quickly we change our tune! Here's hoping Emre signs a new contract.

at the moment he is a vital member of the team and for me should be made captain,

If he keeps performing like this game time will be the least of his worries.

Why on earth should he be captain? A great start to the season by Emre but let's not get carried away.
