If Coutinho wanted to go and was aware from an year. Why did we not say Barcelona a price and time-limit? I am not sure what do you gain dragging this to the final day?

That doesn't mean the club wanted to let him go or that Barcelona would play ball rather than try to under offer, delay to put pressure on to force the sale etc. I would have thought the nature of the last offer and the amount of stuff being thrown at the press shows they wouldn't have just gone ok there you go if LFC had quoted a date and price. Plus LFC did quote a price previously (to PSG) and that would appear to be dead and buried in the current market.

Aren't the selling club that has the power over the buying club! Liverpool don't care what Barcelona thinks. If they come in between so and so date then Yes we could talk as we would need to find a replacement. Else sorry not welcomed! How many days have we got to find a replacement? 8 days!

I don't think Barcelona did plan to lose Neymar this window, or this late in the window. I think they are about to panic.

We can't defend, Neymar thing proved that actually the player and then the buying club if they have money and appeal, are the ones with the power. If you're Barcelona you have the ability to turn a player's head and that can create all sorts of situations that put the selling club on the back foot. Time is less of an issue to them and more of an ally. They will believe they can get someone else late in the day, they will know LFC will struggle to do that. They possibly have misread and believe we'd have to sign a direct replacement but it would seem they believe time suits them. Also they have the benefit of knowing their current squad would still guarantee ECL qualification in La Liga so they can afford to wait. Judging by previous issues they probably also believe (not unfairly) that they have better people handling transfers than LFC. Also if the club quoted a price to PSG last year they would have viewed that as willing to sell. Everything says they have the upper hand in pretty much any deal bar a few.

It just may happen in this case they've got it wrong and the club isn't willing to sell. Or maybe LFC board understand that to sign top players one of the first things to do is make a statement that says we aren't here to be bullied. Only thing to top that would be make a counter bid for Suarez.

Fresht

There are only two reason they are repeatedly bidding in for Coutinho.

1. He is the best out there in that position.

2. They just can't find another similar player for less or more money outside.

There will be no more signings by lfc this summer, this window has been well abd truly cocked up.

I agree that it shows he is the best around I think it also shows that they believe he is unsettled enough to push through that move. It might be they are just in for a surprise here. I think they'd struggle to find someone as good as Coutinho this late but I think the lure of Barcelona means it will be easier for them than for us.
