Hello Reds and Eds,

First time poster here. I'm sure there's thousands of people like me who read the posts without actually posting and I'd like to thank all the eds for their hard work putting up and maintaining this brilliant site.

Ed 001, I'd really like your opinion on our current defence. Are the individual players at fault for the goals that we constantly ship in, or is it the fault of the coach in not organising the defence properly. I'm not claiming to be a pundit here, but it seems to me that there is a genuine lack of bravery in the defence (esp Moreno and Lovren) to clear their lines and put their body at the line to defend properly. Or are they just poor players? What do you think needs to be done to sort out the defence?

Also, my two cents on the Coutinho debacle. I remember I was genuinely heartbroken when Torres left for Chelsea, I couldn't sleep at night. The next major blow I got what Suarez leaving because he was surely a title winning player. However, having matured a little bit I've realized that players coming and going is a a part of football and heroes who leave are replaced by new heroes. If he leaves then I'm sure we still have amazing players (Mane, Sturridge, Firmino, Can) who can be depended upon to dazzle us the way the little magician has done. Goodluck to him, he has given me a bunch of amazing memories to cherish. At the end of the day my love is for LFC, and any player who puts on the shirt and yes that includes Moreno too! ;)

Good day to everyone.

{Ed001's Note - it is a mixture mate. The players are not doing the jobs they are assigned, but the coaches need to ask themselves why the players are failing and rejig things to give players roles they understand.}

It does hurt when players want to leave because, to us fans our club is the best in the world,

It brings home the notion that we will struggle to ever build a squad capable of conquering Britain and Europe, while our best players choose to leave.

Football has changed so much that the likes of the Lisbon Lion are gone forever.

Our defence struggles because the individual parts of it are not good enough.

Ed has it spot on. It is a mixture. Klopp works on defending set pieces an all every day as Ed01 has said so he is aware of the issues, for sure. But during games, it seems like there is NO communication, the boys either don't or can't do the job they are assigned to do OR the coaches are complicating things for them or the players are simply crap and there is an argument to be made for this part. I middle ground has to be met here.

I think Ed002 says it best when he states that the players are transient employees. He is right. There is zero point attaching emotional importance to them. The important thing is that if someone leaves we do not make the mistakes of the past.

Personal opinion is that Moreno and Lovren are not intelligent enough to be top end players, and I am beginning to think that Matip is in the same bracket, all 3 players seem to suffer from erratic moments and panic when there is no real need to which leads to more panic. I have never seen defenders who get caught out with the flight of the ball and get their positioning so wrong as much as Moreno, Lovren and Matip do.
