Edd001 your opinion on the ref last night? . i thought he was just terrible. Im talking for both sides btw!

{Ed001's Note - he was very poor, made a lot of mistakes. He could not figure out advantages, indicated he was playing the advantage at one point, then we lost the ball, while he still had his arms up indicating the advantage, yet he never pulled it back for the foul. Then he decided he wouldn't play advantage because there actually was one later. And that was just two incidents. I am not sure if he got a single call right all night.}

I often find refs get undeserved stick. is it really there fault that players are diving all over the place, but last night was embarressing to say the least! So inconsistant.

Ed, he was abysmal. Even the penalty, he was not going to give it as he was not even sure. It was the "goal post" assistant who told him it was. He was useless all game. In other countries, he would be investigated for match fixing as he did all he could to help Hoff win the game. Credit to our boys for having the bottle to rise above his nonsense.

Have to agree that the ref didn't have his best game last night. However, disagree that he favoured Hoffenheim, that is just nonsense in my opinion, he was poor but consistently poor in general.

There is differences though in the way referees tend to allow the game to flow, I think more UK based referees tend to let the game flow more than some other European refs.

I never quite understood how the referees are not 100% professional where it is their only job and they are paid sufficiently well to make a good living from it. Some refs are paid a pittance and they fit it around their day job when the reality of it is it is the hardest job on the park and scrutinised from everyone. How many of us would make mistakes in their position? I know I would likely make plenty if I tried it. and get abused from all angles.
