How about taking a Torres/ Carrol twist? Drain Barcelona for let's say £125 mill, then make bids of £80 mill each for Keita and VVD? Would that make our team weaker or stronger on the field?
I guess its only a dreamthought, and would be hard to produce.

Both don't want to sell but if we cave on couts who is to say they won't either? Either way it's dirty all around and no matter what happens or doesn't this does not bode well for the upcoming season.

If we sell Coutinho for 125 mill then I bet VVD and Kieta's selling price would also become 125 mill apiece.

Isnt it all about money these days? Those clubs would also have their braking points.

I disagree. It's not ideal. But because we can't get Kieta or VVD (seemingly) why let Phil go? Then what's he going to do? Sulk and not play in a World Cup year? More likely he'll play out of his skin so he can get his move next season and we've got 12 months not 3 weeks to sort out a proper replacement. On replacements Roberto can play that deeper role, so a quality front man is needed.

I would agree with you Fab, that's IF Coutinho could master all this turbulence. I fear he's about to burn his KOP- bridges. Im not shure if Coutinho is that strong mentally.

Roberto is the one left I fear most if Coutinho leaves. Those two has got a special understanding on the pitch. Pipco gone can effect Roberto negativly.

I agree no sale. Keep him for the season, he needs to play so won't play up. We continue pursuit of Keita and Van Dijk. If we get both great, if we only get one fair enough and if we don't get any then play waiting game.

We start looking for replacements for Coutinho through this season and maybe even agree a deal.

Suarez did much worse, and yet FSG stuck to their guns, and didn't sell to Arsenal. So I think they'll do the same here and Coutinho will still be here by the end of the window. And if he's smart he'll realize he has more to lose by under-performing or not training well. He simply needs to put his head down and get on with it. If he's lucky he could get his move in January. And then there's the World Cup. I don't give any weight to Barca's posture of "now or never". They waited 2 or 3 years to get Dani Alves. A similar time for Arda Turan, too. So if they want him they'll be back.

What boggles the mind is that the LFC back office has still not got it's act together. Ed002 has stated that prices for the player have been given. Did anyone check with Klopp if that was okay and if he agreed with the intention? If they asked and he said no, then they should have listened and avoided this frosty situation between player and manager (Klopp is not going to look at Coutinho the same way again) . If they asked and he said okay because he had a replacement in mind, then Klopp should have made sure he got his man in. You can't blame the un-anticipated Neymar and Keita situations or bad luck. This is what real man management is all about. Not just hugs on the field. (I fully support Jurgen Klopp by the way and don't hold him fully responsible. I do hold the owners responsible though for not putting into place a clear management structure with a DOF with years of experience, at the top. I read about people shuttling in an out of the LFC office every 2-3 years, and it's always the same mistakes and the same egg on the face in the media and with the fans) .
