My opinion is that we should stand firm and not allow Coutinho to leave.

1. We don't need the money.
2. It's too late in the window to find suitable replacements.
3. We have just got back into the Champions League and we all know what happened last time when we sold Suarez.
4. If RBL and Southampton can stand firm then surely we can.
5. If Barcelona want him that bad they will wait a year.
6. I'm sure players have handed in transfer requests before, not got the move and still stayed and performed well at their clubs. I. E. David De Gea.
7. If we want to be a big club and win trophies we cannot keep selling our best players.

I can totally understand Couts wanting to play for Barcelona. You cannot blame someone for having ambition etc as Barcelona are certainly in a better place to win trophies at the moment. But in 5 years time when Messi, Suarez and Pique have gone they will be in far from the best team unless they make the right signings. I don't think their transfer business has been great since they bought Suarez. Real Madrid are a far better team than Barcelona at the moment and still have you up and coming players like Asensio. He could end up at Barcelona and win nothing.

They club should tell him he can only go on the clubs terms. Next season would be fair so that we can sign the right replacements before he leaves etc.

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained, the reason for what is happening now is that Barcelona won't wait a year.}

Yeah I understand that Ed. That just shows he is not a priority for Barcelona and that they would happily sign an alternative player. Where as Klopp is prepared to wait for Keita because that's who we want. We should stand firm and tell Barcelona to jog on!

{Ed002's Note - You are missing the point that they are looking for a player to replace Iniesta now - they are not going to wait another year. And I am not aware of any statement that Liverpool would waut a year for Keita.}

No I understand they want to sign a player to replace iniesta now. What I am saying is i don't believe now is the right time for Liverpool to sell Coutinho. If we want to win trophies again we need to keep our best players. I wouldn't be thrilled if i was Coutinho and Barcelona said it's now or never. Then point I'm making is we don't need the money and don't need to sell. It's just my opinion on what I would like the club to do. I respect the fact that the eds have better knowledge of all that's going on.

And what if they can't get their replacement for Iniesta, what would would happen then?
Clubs can't just bow down because Barcelona stomp their feet.

{Ed002's Note - They are not bowing down - these are just transfers, it is business as usual and no different to Liverpool buying Robertson for example.}
