For a living I advise business owners how to grow and sell their companies.

If I advised FSG I would ask them these 4 questions about whether to sanction the sale of Couts or not:

1) Are Liverpool more or less likely to get champions league next year if he is sold?

2) Will the value of Liverpool go up or down if they aren't in the champions league?

3) How much will you lose if not in the champions league next season including TV, sponsorships and marketing etc.?

4) And here's the biggie - will the player's value go up if he stays and you sell him next season?

FSG owners didn't become rich by luck. They are smart businessmen and they will ask the above - and unless they are smoking something over there in Boston and a lot of it - Couts will be here come 1st September!

All very sensible points.

Or maybe he will ask to leave and the club will respect his wishes instead of keeping someone who doesn't want to stay.

If he wants to go, then he will go!

FSG are thoroughly an investment company.

They've got a model to run the club.

their model is no different then anyother investment company.

For them keeping net spend down and increasing revenue is essential for their business model.

I can't disagree with any of that mate. Pretty much my thoughts exactly.

If our business in the window concludes as is and we fail to bring in a big name target, and at the same time let PC go then FSG will be lining themselves up for an absolute onslaught if you ask me. Im not saying any of the embarrassments so far are down to them but they will bear the brunt of it regardless unfortunately. They will be responsible for the sanctioning of the PC sale and that will may well be the straw that broke the camels back.

I'm still trying to be positive and hope we pull something extraordinary off in the coming weeks with both aspects.

Either way Klopp has let us down by making all this so uneccesary. It looks shambolic to us fans on the outside, I can't imagine how much other clubs are laughing at us from within the business.

I agree with all this - what you're missing though is does Coutinho want to play for Barcelona or Liverpool this season and if he prefers to go, do you hold him against his will or not.

I genuinely believe Klopp and FSG would prefer not to sell him at all, but this is about whether they want to try force him to stay or let him follow his dream.

Spot on, OP. Smallsy, how is Klopp at fault for the Cou issue, exactly? Pls, explain or are you just looking for someone to blame?

Ron - great to have a reply from you my fellow positive supporter 😜

However I didn't notice Keita joining us when he allegedly
wanted to and it was his final year of contract? And what about Sanchez in his final year?
