Would say I'm shocked to see the negativity on here regarding coutinho.
Yes he is a great player, but he is not the be all and end all of our team. Personally not fussed either way if he leaves or stays.
We still going to play every game either way so that's it.
If he goes we have plenty of options in the team already.
Personally I'd use it as a chance to play firmino in his natural position and play a fluid 4 3 3.
Back 4 of who ever we end up with, then there is an abundance of choice for the 2 deeper midfielders who would add extra defence and then break forward, with firmino just in front behind Salah, mane and a striker.
We could go all out and buy the best striker we could an use sturridge as sub.
We have plenty of midfield cover as it is.

Just my personal opinion, I'd rather have a TEAM of good players playing fluid football for a TEAM they want to play for than team set up around one great player who wants out. For me as soon as he asked his friends to sound out another team that should be the time to start looking for a replacement. It's not as if it's been a secret he wants his move. No offense to him, it's Barcelona.

Sorry for long post, we have a really good team and with or without coutinho we should expect to challenge for the tops spots and do well in all cups.
Hopefully if he is sold Liverpool don't mess up getting a replacement, I'd hope for all out on a top striker.
Just my 2 pence worth.

Not long now, what ever happens sit back and enjoy the football, it's going to be a good season of football to watch for most of the top half of the league, hoping Everton can pull there new signings together for a couple of really good derby matches. Us winning of course but would love to see some really hard fought wins

If we have such a good team, how come we conceded so many goals, didn't actually compete for the league and won nothing last season?

Never said we have the best team, we have a weak defence which coutinho plays little to no part of. Our biggest threat in my opinion is mane who was injured for the back end of last season.
With the money from selling coutinho we could and should buy a commanding cb and a reliable striker. This would make us a better team than as It stands now with coutinho in it.
Just because we need to improve doesn't mean we haven't got a great team.
Stop sulking and realise we play in one of the richest leagues in football which means there are now at least 8 teams which are good enough to fight for 4 places.

Frankly we were challenging for the title we injury issues with Coutinho, Henderson, Mane, Sturridge etc. and Chelsea went on a hell of a run.

Lifelong red, your words were that we have a 'really good team', which couldn't be further away from the truth. We're a mediocre team, we have an imbalanced and a largely mediocre squad with a few very good players and Coutinho being the closest we have to a world class player. Giving our recruitment team any large amount of money is like giving a donkey a five pound note. Damned if they know how they got it and damned if they know what to actually do with it. I don't see that there is anything to be positive about going into the new season, I'm simply being realistic in my assessment of how things are. Given our previous form on spending and the fact that we are completely inept at bringing in top players (which there is significant evidence to support, Dani Alves, Costa, Willian, Keita and VVD all being perfect examples of our incompetence), if the club went and spent every penny from the sale of Coutinho it would only be overspent on mediocre players like Lanzini, Oxlade and Gibson. Players who simply aren't good enough at the top level, nor able to compete at the highest level, which is how things have happened repeatedly over the years, remind me, did we use the money from Torres/ Suarez/ Stirlling well? No. We wasted it each time and subsequently we had a season of failure. So form is not on our side on this.

Wow frankly that is possibly the most unsupported post I've ever read.
Mediocre?
Did we not finish above arsenal and man u? For the back end of the season from Xmas on nearly play without key players?
I'm not blind and am realistic about our team, we do have a really good team which is why we need to be challenging for all honours, yes we need to strengthen in places, saying we have a great team doesn't mean we need no new players. Any supporter know we need a commanding cb.
Yes LFC have made a mess of 2 of this year's transfers, yes something needs to be done for our transfer business in the future. I didn't once say we didn't.
We have strengthened our defence and bought another pacey forward.
I don't believe coutinho is our most important player, I would be more concerned if we sold mane. Selling coutinho and buying a leader of a cb and a more reliable striker would make us a much stronger team.
This still doesn't stop us from having a great team.
