Ed001, question for yourself.

As we all know, pre-season is the place for younger lads to play their way into the managers thoughts. Sterling did it not long ago. Brannagan, Flanagan and Spearing have with less success.

With Klopp already admitting that Gomez is now in serious contention, have you heard anything regarding Ryan Kent?

I posted way back around February about the prospect of Kent getting a chance in pre-season. I think other posters such as Haych also suggested he could be a good squad option. At the time, your information was suggesting he was surplus and would be moved on. Has anything changed with his pre-season form? Or is he just in the shop window still as you said just before pre-season kicked off? Also, Jon Flanagan, who could be a good back up to Robertson in my opinion?

I'm bored of talk about you know who and fancied a new discussion 😂.

{Ed001's Note - so far nothing has changed, but there are still a few more chances for either of those players to convince the manager they should be included. Both are keen to stay.}

Good post MK. I also would like to see more of Kent, Woodburn and particularly Grujic and its for this reason alone I don't want us to sign the Ox. Whilst I think the Ox is a good player I don't think he's good enough to start regularly and would take a place on the bench that would be better occupied by one of our young lads.

good post MK

me personally i recon the lad needs to be playing more regually at a higher level than he currently is. A loan maybe not just any loan but the "right" loan as i can't see him breaking into the 1st team any time soon as too many players ahead of him. same for Wilson.

one player tho i am a fan of is young Brewster i've only seen a couple of clips of him but he looks decent would love the ed01's view on him if u have time mate.

thnx!

If you had seen the ox playing in the Emirates cup he did exactly what I thought of him great at running at defenders and getting stuck in but end product nearly everytime was poor.

Its pre season. No player is at 100%.

Klopp must see something in Ox that he can work with to improve.

It maybe only be that he is a home grown player who is in his last year of his contract and ticks most of the boxes including CL experience.

Maybe Klopp is planning for further windows where having ox as a home grown player will help.

I think at 20mill. He is a bargain.

Ejaria for me is one I believe can really kick on this year, when he's playing with confidence I'm always amazed at how easily he keeps the ball and the quality of his dribbling. For me he should be ahead of Grujic in the pecking order as things stand, it'd certainly be nice to see some of the youngsters get a reasonable amount of game time with us next year.

The Ox has really improved in the last 6 months Imo and I can see exactly what it is about him that Klopp likes, the only really question is what position suits him best.

{Ed025's Note - sitting on the bench and used only if all else fails i would suggest HX..

Well that's it Ed, if we played 5 atb I think he is perfect for that formation and why I wouldn't be at all surprised if Chelsea came in for him but with our current setup his best hope would be rotation.
