I'm just wondering, I know we wanted to bring in quality this season, but doesn't it seem like we've put all our eggs into one basket and now that Keita and VVD haven't come through yet. it appears that we have no alternatives!
Oh well we never do it the easy way. let's hope we see a couple more new faces before the start of the season.

I think these are the only two players we have been linked with that actually improve our first eleven. All the other alternatives are squad players with potential for more (Meyer, Hector Herrera, mammana to name a few) and not slotting in ahead of say Can or Lovren for the first game of the season. So I am actually really comfortable if we miss our targets and instead stay with what we have. Of course I think Robertson and Salah are good signings and fix some problematic areas for us. For me, VVD is more important than keita as we have plenty of cover in his position and considerably less top class defenders.

Well, Salah was not first choice either. You think we went into this transfer window only with alternatives for the Salah position but not for the others? How is that even possible? every club considers multiple options with a whole bunch of players. LFC has chosen to pursue these targets and at the right time Klopp will decide how to proceed next. Maybe he might decide to sign 2 alternatives to Naby and VVD or maybe he may decide if he cannot get them he doesn't need them.

I hate alternative talk. if we had two or three potential targets as we did with wingers fine you can move down your list but if you have your heart set on one or two players if they don't materialize we need to learn to be patient and start the scouting process again. Panic buying for a position has got us in trouble countless times.

Agreed, Shane. If we can't get who we really want, we stick to the plan and focus on either the alternatives or keep your powder dry and focus on putting in a couple of youngsters who can do a job. At least, they will be super motivated to have a go.

Surely we would not be aware of alternative targets until we've moved onto them? When I say 'we' I mean the fans and not the club as I fully expect they have a number of targets in mind if we do not get Keita and VVD.
