If we decide to sell couts, I personally think we will get one more season similar to Alonso (where he had an awesome season in 08/ 09) and then reluctantly sell next summer for big money!

But if we were to sell this year who would people want to replace him with in the 11?

We shouldn't sell Phil at all. no chance. We have a history of not replacing top players (still haven't replaced Suarez)
But if the club are stupid enough to sell our best player again, then the whatever the fee, got to be around 100mil imo, should be put used to buy one player equally as talented. We sold Suarez and spent 80m on about 7 players and it didn't work.

I appreciate there's not a great deal of options out there but if people genuinely believe they are good enough to replace Phil then they need to give their head a wobble.

Yeah I don't get the Firmino comment, they're just not that similar in terms of their play.
It's pointless trying to get a like for like replacement.
For me if Alexis Sanchez wants champions league and Coutinho goes for £100m then I'd put a bid in for Sanchez.

But if an odd one but personally would get Aubameyang if the Keita deal came through. Swap to a 4-4-2 with firmino playing up top and hendo Keita midfield, plus mane and salah on sides.

Acered - sorry, how on earth is Renato Sanches supposed to replace Coutinho? He is a completely different player, nowhere near the same standard, and also totally out of form. You just picked a name and thought it would sound good.

Sanches, Coric, Meyer (who's not even better than Woodburn) and another forward (whoever that means) to replace Coutinho? Good thing some on here do not run transfer business at LFC. None of these players can replace Couts a they are not even better than his left peg.

I'd go for Thomas Müller. Would love to see him and Bobby press together. That alone would give us 10 goals/ season. Plus the poaching, and his all around good guy aura.

Eriksen, Pjanic, Isco, Suso and Lanzini are the type of players we'd need to look at to get a like for like replacement.

Only maybe Eriksen and Pjanic of that list are as good as Coutinho though and they have no reason to come to us. All the realistic options are a down grade at least for the immediate future.

Therefore I'd second what Ron has said and just go for a completely different kind of player. Somebody who can win a game single handedly, but not necessarily somebody of the same style as Coutinho.

Neither Pjanic or Eriksen are on Coutinho's level, or close to it. Eriksen has an excellent delivery, but he has reached his limit as a footballer, overall, same for Pjanic. Coutinho is a top class player about to become an elite one.
Forget the conversation, we can't sell him this summer - period.

MK agree on Isco. Decent player that can play as a Cam/ CM and on the wings. Could fill in well for couts and will probably cost the same. But I'd rather see couts plying for atleast another season.

remember when we picked couts up from Milan he was also out of form but class will come through in the end. Also so everyone who puts a name forward and you don't happen to agree with it just picked it out of the air just because it sounds good, what a stupid comment.
