People raving about TAA potential and scouse, and yes he is good. But my preferential scouse has been Flanagan ever since he comes to light at lfc. He has great character and attitude, fantastic positioning and awareness with good passing range, a tough man now! I will have him to provide cover to a new left back instead of Milner. Just my opinion though.

Both of them are good lads, but TAA has more potential in my opinion, but each to their own of course.

Can't agree Alhassan. I've loved flanno's passion but often thought he jumped in too eagerly and was exposed by pacey tricky wingers. TAA also has age on his side. Like other posters have said, if flanno was going to make it, he wouldn't have sat on the bench when out on loan.

Flano's main attribute is defending. Which should be the main focus of a fullback in my opinion. Klopp prefers fullbacks with quality going forward so I don't think John will be in his plans. It's a shame as the lad has the rare quality to get the crowd going when we're on the back foot. The perfectly timed crunching tackle. We've missed that since Carra and even Gerrard would throw a few in every now and then. A scouser who'll put his body on the line for 90 minutes. I miss Carragher. Not the tosser on sky sports but the big fella screaming at his teammates and battling Drogba and coming out on top. Could Flano be our new Carra. A few seasons ago I was optimistic, now I'm not so sure.

The little bit I saw Flano play last year, he looked tentative and slow. Played very safe with a lot of sideways or backwards passing. I loved him before he got injured but I think too many people are judging him by what he was like pre-injury. Having said that I didn't see last nights match so is anyone able to provide a review on his performance?

Scootinio I completely agree with you but unfortunately tackling like that is bearly none existing in football nowadays and refs are too strict on it also.

I myself am a HUGE fan of those CRUNCHING challenges as it has always shown true passion. Specially because it was always more common on games vs United which made them much more exciting

Maybe flano could be turned into a CB? Probably not as he can’t really jump and isn’t tall enough.
It is a shame, 10+ years ago he would have been perfect for the game : (.

Burkeyboy, i believe player like Flanagan learns even sitting on bench because of what you admit 'passion' and of course zeal. His awareness and positioning sense will help him deal with pacey and trickish players as he is of age now as you mentioned. Like i said, i will prefer him to cover a new left back instead of Milner.

The same Flanagan that struggled to get a game last season at a club he should be holding the position when fit. He's just not Champions League quality which is what we should be aiming for. TAA could be.
