Hi Ed 2, as an erudite gentleman I wondered how you view the obsessive nature of fans regarding transfers, and how this might effect football going forward.

Specifically, how many supporters seem unreasonably worried about being 'left behind' by rivals and as such demand exorbitant player purchases to ease their own insecurity - axiomatically revealed by the incessant repetitious questions to the Editors on here.

To my mind this psychological phenomena runs a close parallel to economic boom and bust, such as Tulip mania for example, and how it demonstrates a collective irrationality driven by feelings of 'missing out'.

Do you ever envisage therefore that football could be heading on the trajectory of economic collapse precipitated by irrational demands of fans?

Thanks in advance Ed 2.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs should ignore the fans desires for marquee signings, but some do just buy players to placate the fans who need their predicatory pleadings responded to. The FFP rules were put in place to try and protect clubs from making commitments that they cannot meet but in England the additional TV income means that clubs can afford to pay more, over the odds, whatever. And boy others will milk it.}
