Afternoon Eds and reds

First of all a collective thank you to all the eds for all their efforts in trying to stay again during this silly season

Secondly I was interested in your thoughts on Iago Aspas, we can see now after going back to Spain he has had a great season constantly hitting the back of the net and I was wandering why you thought he wasn't a success at Liverpool, was it simply down to not enough chances? Or has he developed more then everyone expected?

Many thanks.

{Ed001's Note - never settled, never wanted to leave Celta (which is the team he supports and is now playing for again), never really got a proper chance and so he never adjusted to the physicality required.}

Ed you know where you said physicality, do you think this may be the reason why England is so far behind in terms of player quality, because we tend to label it 'a mans game' and 'a mans game' is all about bruises, rough tackles and just being physical, and I think it's a case of we try to substitute technical skills for this so called big man approach, I really do hate it when a new player comes in and he has to 'bulk up', do any other leagues have this problem?

{Ed001's Note - yes, the British game does suffer by being all about physicality over technical ability. It is a distinct disadvantage.}

I always liked Aspas, and I belive hecould have had a great season playing for us, and I also don't think his size would have been a problem - he always has that 'terrier' like aspect to his game - but the problem he had was very simple - he had Suarez and Sturridge in the sane squad. He couldn't get a game really. Shame as he could have been very good for us, but his timing was unfortunate.

If he never wanted to leave why did he ed? Money?

{Ed001's Note - Celta needed the money to pay bills and survive, so he agreed a move to help the club.}

Very noble of him, Ed. This may explain why they jumped at the chance to buy him back immediately after their money issues were fixed. He's Celta thru and thru and I respect him even more now as a gentleman, than as a pro footballer.

{Ed001's Note - he is very much a Celta fan and would have been happiest if he could have spent his career there.}
